Exhibition proves Hoang Sa, Truong Sa belonging to Vietnam

Documents, artefacts, publications and nearly 100 maps on display, collected by researchers and scholars at home and abroad, assert Vietnam’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos.

They included documents in Han (Chinese script), Nom (Vietnamese ideographic script), Vietnamese and French languages promulgated by Vietnamese feudal reigns and French authorities in Indochina; administrative papers of the State Republic of Vietnam since 1975; plus maps and atlas published by Vietnam, China and Western countries.

There were also pictures and artefacts reporting activities conducted by Vietnamese people and army to safeguard national sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.

Speaking at the opening, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Truong Minh Tuan said that the exhibition was held to consolidate solidarity and raise responsibility of Vietnamese people at home and abroad in protecting the country’s sea and islands.

It also sought to help international friends, including Chinese, understand Vietnamese people’s aspiration for maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The exhibition will run until August 28 at the provincial cultural centre in Tam Ky city.
