From a poor farmer, Cao Van Minh in Tan Uyen district has created a stable life with an income of hundreds of millions of VND per year. The result is thanks to timely assistance from local poverty elimination program and his constant efforts.

In 2004, Minh and his family left their Ben Tre homeland to earn a living in Hieu Liem commune of Tan Uyen district. Initially, he worked for an orchard with an income of VND800,000/month. After that, he developed more chicken breeding. After selling the first chickens, he purchased a cow to increase his income.

He hired land to plant fruit trees and breed poultries. Till 2008, he bought a 5,000sqm land lot and built a small house. However, owing to hard working and illness, his family fell into poverty again.

Fortunately, policy of poverty elimination brought good lucky to him. His family members were granted health insurance cards and his children enjoyed a tuition exemption. Besides, he enjoyed a VND10mil loan from the Bank for Social Policy. With the support, he started a new crop. He has so far reaped over VND150mil per year.

He revealed ‘policy of poverty elimination helps my family escape poverty and enjoy a stable life’.
