In a recent working visit to Binh Duong, the Central Institute of Development Strategies assessed that golf course planning and development have been implemented by the province in a synchronous and methodical way.

Implementation under the plan

According to Phu Huu Minh, Vice-Director of provincial Department of Planning and Investment, there are now 4 golf course projects licensed by provincial People’s Committee. The projects are also in line with the Prime Minister’s Decision No.1946/QD-TTg dated Nov.26, 2009 on approval of Vietnam’s golf course planning till 2020. Among them, there are 3 in operation and the remainder under construction.

Binh Duong has excelled at granting licenses to golf course projects and controlling over them. In picture: A glance of Palm Song Be golf course

Palm Song Be golf course is a typical example for the success of golf course projects in Binh Duong. Licensed in 1992, the 27-hole golf course was fulfilled in 2007 with such works as restaurant, gift shop, gym…Till 2013, it was turned into a wholly domestic company with total investment capital of US$28.23mln. The company is also calling for investment to further build many other important items like shopping center, offices for rent…So far, the company has generated jobs for 709 laborers and paid around VND510bln for State budget a year.

Two other golf courses in Binh Duong are Twin Doves Golf Club & Resort and Mekong Golf & Villas Eco-tourism Area. Like Palm Song Be Golf Course, the two golf courses have been built and tapped methodically, effectively.

Close, effective management

All golf course projects in the province were licensed under the plan and have become one of bright spots in Vietnam’s management and development of golf courses. After being licensed, they have been facilitated for construction and development from provincial People’s Committee.

At a recent meeting with the Central Institute of Development Strategies, Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee affirmed that granting licenses to golf course projects and controlling over them have been realized in the right sequence by the province. This has helped the local golf course projects develop methodically and effectively.

After researching the reports by provincial Department of Planning and Investment together with the results from the delegation’s fact-finding trip, Duong Tat Thang, Head of the Central Institute of Development Strategies together with other members felt satisfied with granting licenses to golf course projects in Binh Duong and monitoring over their implementation. And Binh Duong is a role-model in effectively developing a system of golf courses for other localities to follow.
