Attention from central leaders

On Aug. 13, 120 especially difficult pupils across the province were very excited to receive the “Get back to school” scholarship funded by the Vietnam Children Support Fund. For poor pupils, VND3mil is the large money, helping them pay expenses of learning for the new school year.

Obviously, every step of children, especially needy children is paid much attention by central and local leaders.

His mother passed away when he was two while his father lives with new family. Trung lives with his grandmother. He and his grandmother are monthly granted a subsidy worth over VND600,000. However, this money is enough for daily meals’ expenses.

Local authority offers favorable conditions

Over the past years, Binh Duong has gained a high growth pace of economy, attracting a large number of immigrant laborers. However, some immigrant laborers pay less attention to their children’s study. As of June, 2014, the whole of the province had 7,805 children with especially difficult circumstances.

According to Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, director of the provincial department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the local administration has over the past years launched all programs, plans of protecting and taking care of children as well as building and developing the Support Fund for Children.

Over the past 3 years, aside from the provincial budget source, the provincial Support Fund for Children mobilizes more than VND10bil from organizations, units and individuals inside and outside of the province. The amount of money is for heart surgeries, charity house buildings, eye surgeries, scholarship grantings and so on.

On the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 2014-2015 academic year and Full Moon Festival 2014, many activities for children will be held across the province. With assistance from the whole society, children get their dream of study. Many of them become useful citizens for family and society.

Doan Mau Diep, deputy minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that 120 scholarships granted to needy pupils show up profound care of Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and donors. By the way, I suggest local authorities to pay more attention to underprivileged children.
