Hi-tech agriculture – a proper developing trend

After two years of developing hi-tech agriculture, Binh Duong has emerged a series of effective agricultural production models, helping local farmers improve their life and even make wealth on their cultivation land.

Flower, vegetable bring big profits

It is clear that hi-tech application into agricultural production has brought big benefits for farmers. And, orchid growing is often selected by local farmers because this kind of flower brings a large efficiency on hi-tech application into production.

There is not a shadow of doubt that orchid become familiar with Vietnamese people in general and Binh Duong people in particular. However, since the provincial party committee’s Program 26 has been set out, orchid is the first kind of flower to be chosen to grow extensively. Up to now, there are 36 locations of growing and taking care of Mokara orchid. This new variety of orchid bringing high economic values has been developed by the provincial Center for Agriculture Promotion on the total area of more than 4,000 square meters. Notably, Binh Duong farmers have quickly realized orchid’s advantages and planted them in mass areas. In addition, they have possessed many valued techniques, creating numerous high valued orchid gardens.

Mai Quoc Thai, the owner of Mai Hoang Lien orchid farmstead in Minh Hoa commune, Dau Tieng district said “Thanks to self-research and encouragement of local authority, I has invested and developed my orchid farm up to 4ha, reaping a profit of about VND500mil per year”.

If orchid has become a movement, clean vegetable has become an essential demand in the society. Realizing this, the local agricultural sector has always focused on developing movement of growing clean vegetables to offer for the rising market. Until now, there are as many as 7 models of clean vegetable growing with the total area of 67ha in the province. Therefore, local farmers’ awareness has been changed remarkably, bringing large production value.

In the meantime, growing vegetables in greenhouse has started indicating its large efficiency and benefit. Until now, Binh Duong provincial Center for Agriculture Promotion has built 10 models of growing vegetables in greenhouse on an area of 9,700 square meters. The new models give a 1.5-2 times higher than ordinary ones. Especially, the model of planting rock melon and bell pepper in the greenhouse at An Thai hi-tech agriculture area in Phu Giao district has brought a turnover of VND600mil per ha, an increase of 7 times.

Chicken and fish give high efficiency

After two years of the provincial party committee’s Program 26, farmsteads and breeding households have focused on applying new tech-science advances in their production.

At present, Binh Duong homes to 43 pig breeding facilities with the closed and automatic equipment, bringing high economic values. Meanwhile, as many as 83 chicken breeding facilities have been equipped modern technology. For example, Ba Huan Company in Vinh Tan commune, Tan Uyen town has bravely invested in coop system as per the advanced technology on the total area of 17.6ha. This investment has met high quality for local and foreign markets. In addition, Mr. Le Thanh Nguyen’s model of raising chicken in Long Nguyen commune, Bau Bang district has given a profit of over VND900mil per annum.

Moreover, Binh Duong animal breeding sector has witnessed a new species of ornamental fish. Le Van Hue in Thanh Tuyen commune, Dau Tieng district said that since 2012 his family has tested and expanded breeding of discus fish and other kinds of ornamental fishes. As a result, he has offered about 10,000 ornamental fishes for the market, reaping about VND200mil per month.

Until now, the local agricultural sector has built as many as 71 ornamental fish breeding locations. As for breeding discus fishes, breeders have enjoyed a high profit with about VND3.8mil per month.

Pham Van Bong, vice director of the provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said “Over the past years, Binh Duong agriculture has showed a strong and rapid development, gradually improving local farmers’ life. Hi-tech agricultural models have been expanded and developed, bringing a huge income for farmers. This is a clear proof of a proper agricultural policy”.
