“The Secretary will meet with senior Vietnamese leaders. She will witness the signing of several agreements covering education exchanges and commercial contracts and meet with representatives of U.S. and Vietnamese business communities,” according to a statement released on the website of the US Department of State.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said that Clinton left Washington DC on July 5 to travel to France, Japan, Mongolia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Egypt and Israel.
Hillary is due to attend the third meeting of the Friends of the Syrian People to be held in France on July 6.
The secretary will then travel to Tokyo to be present at the conference on Afghanistan on July 8 ahead of a visit to Mongolia.
On July 11, the US Secretary of State will make a landmark visit to Laos. Clinton is the first top US diplomat to visit the country in 57 years, according to AFP.
Clinton will then travel to Phnom Penh on July 11 to participate in regional conferences and to join in bilateral meetings with Cambodian officials.
She will arrive in Egypt from July 14 – 16 and is due to wrap up her tour in Israel on July 17.
