Part 2: Operating effectively, excelling at activities towards community

Province-based Japanese enterprises focus on industries of car components, processed food, beverage, consumer goods…During the operational process, many have taken fruits in production and business, well realized the State’s policies while taking good care of laborers’spiritual and material lives…

Effective investment

Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co.Ltd. (YEV) is among Japanese enterprises with the earliest investment in Binh Duong. Being put into operation since early 1995, the company is specialized in manufacturing electric wire for car. Its products are mainly supplied for the world’s famous car manufacturers, including Nissan, Toyota, Mazda…

After its 18-year development, YEV has taken fruits in production and business and always received high appreciation from the Japan-based Yazaki Group. Following the success, YEV has expanded its factories in My Phuoc and the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh, contributing to generating jobs with stable income for tens of thousands of laborers.

Also like YEV, Rohto Pharmacecutical Vietnam Co., which was set up in 1997 with a total investment capital of U$S18mln, has made success in Vietnam. In 1997, the company put its factory into operation in the Vietnam-Singapore  Industrial Park I and this was also the first factory with GMP standard in Vietnam. Thanks to having effective investment, in 2008, the company continued inaugurating its expanded factory and new warehouse in the VSIP I. In 2013, the company has also decided to further raise its investment capital for production expansion.

2013 is also the noteworthy year of Tsuchiya Tsco Co.Ltd. as it marks the 10th anniversary of the company in the VSIP I. This is a subsidiary company under Tsuchiya Corporation, Japan’s leading provider of products for automobile and automatic industries, aviation, electronics, ecological industries…Along with the domestic market, the company’s annual export turn reaches US$2.5mln with a wide range of high-quality products in industries of office equipment, household equipment, building materials…that are exported to Japan, Thailand, Hongkong, China, Indonesia…

According to Yasuyuki Ohara, CEO of the Japanese Tsuchiya Corporation, Tsuchiya Tsco Co.Ltd is a successful example for the model of export enterprise combined by Japan’s advanced technology and Vietnam’s competent workforce. With a favorable investment climate of Binh Duong, the company will continue expanding its production and business activities.

Established in 1996, Sun Steel Joint Stock Co (SUNSCO) is a producer of carbon steel products in Di An town’s Tan Dong Hiep ward. The company’s factory of 30 hectares has the annual capacity of 2.25mln tons of steel products. Thanks to effective operation, the company last year poured additional US$120mln into construction of a new factory with two color and zinc-plating assembly lines, bringing its total investment capital to US$420mln. The new factory is expected to put into operation in December 2013. Nishino Tetsuya, Deputy Director of SUNSCO has also thanked provincial leaders for their efforts in creating favorable conditions for the effective operation of the company…

Towards community

Rohto Mentholatum Vietnam Co. has not only made strong investment in the state-of-the-art equipment, but also got involved in social charity activities for the sake of public welfare. Particularly, the company actively organized a program on free eye examination for pupils at high schools; awarded scholarships to poor pupils; raised money for the Disaster Victims Fund…The company also implemented an eye care program with the theme of “Bright eyes towards future” in provinces and cities across the country in response to the World Sight Day, October 10. This is one of activities annually implemented by the company since 2006. With the above programs, this is an outstanding enterprise in production and business as well as activities towards the community, according to Ly Hung, Deputy Head of VSIP Management Board.

YEV has also paid attention to universal education to laborers and attached special importance to their offspring’s learning. In June 2010, YEV inaugurated My Phuoc preschool in Ben Cat district’s My Phuoc township that. The preschool of nearly 1,700sq.m is next to YEV’s factory with 3 classrooms together with some functional rooms and it has a seating capacity of 200 children aged four months and above. The birth of the preschool is of great significance for the company’s workers, helping keep their mind on work. This has also contributed to helping the company stabilize its workforce

Whilst, Tsuchiya Tsco Vietnam Co.Ltd. has always paid attention to laborers’ spiritual life via many significant activities, including giving health care, providing delicious and safe meals…According to the company’s leaders, workforce is the most precious thing for the company, so giving healthcare to laborers is a deed regularly implemented by the company. The company has actively got involved in social charity activities for the sake of public welfare through raising money to the charity houses of Lang Tre, Que Huong, Support Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin of the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre…

Many other Japanese companies, namely Acecook Vietnam, Showa Gloves Vietnam Co.Ltd…have also attached special importance to taking good care of laborers’ spiritual and material lives. Whilst, Finecs Vietnam Co. has focused on improving Vietnamese technicians’ qualification. The above attention and high esteem have helped domestic laborers get more responsible and have a strong attachment to Japanese enterprises.
