Many fun summer activities for children in rural areas

Update: 01-07-2018 | 09:40:34

Summer is the time when children look forward to participating in summer activities after a school year. There are many playgrounds for children in urban areas, but suburban children often gather and play, or help their parents with housework. Therefore, in recent years, Provincial Youth Union, Children’s House, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism... have been bringing fun summer activities to children in rural areas.

To have a fun summer

Many suburban children spend most of their time on helping their parents with housework, so that their parents can earn more money. Nguyen Thi Ngoc, 9 years old, (An Linh commune, Phu Giao district), knows how to do all the housework, and looks after her 4-year-old younger brother. Talking about her desire in the summer, Ngoc shyly said: "I saw on TV that many  children traveled with many families in summer such as: Bathing in Vung Tau, playing in Suoi Tien Park, Dam Sen Park (Ho Chi Minh City)... I love it. But I know my parents are very poor, we cannot afford travelling, and there is housework that I want to help my parents”.

In Minh Tan commune, Minh Thanh district of Dau Tieng district, children gathered at a dam of Minh Tan commune, or bike to Minh Thanh commune to bathe in Truc spring, Dau Tieng lake. Nguyen Dinh Phu in Minh Tan commune said: "Husband and wife go to work, 2 children stay at home, have to cook and take care of themselves, our house near the dam, so I am very worried. But life is difficult, so we have to take risks and go to work to earn money for the children.

Let your child have a meaningful summer

In the absence of playgrounds, children in rural communes often play spontaneous games, potentially resulting in injuries. In fact, many tragic accidents have occurred. Therefore, the organization of diverse summer activities for suburban children in the province is directed by provincial leaders and implemented by branches, unions and localities.

Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in recent years, has directed Provincial Library and public library system to rotate books to serve children in rural communes. This activity has brought joy, helped children to read many books or to improve reading culture. Most recently, North Tan Uyen district Library has exchanged books to serve students in Tan Thanh, Tan Dinh commune. Here they read, met friends, played folk games. Student Nguyen Van Hoang in Tan Thanh said: "I love reading. This summer, the library brings many meaningful books. Reading books, having fun, the summer is not boring any more”.

Bringing fun activities to children in summer is also the task of Provincial Children's House. Therefore, at the beginning of the year, Provincial Children's House planned for cultural art shows during the summer. During the summer, children in clubs, teams and groups of Provincial Children's House continuously had performances and shows for their friends. Particularly, Provincial Youth Union also directed grassroots unions to organize fun activities for children. As a result, many branches created a free mobile swimming pool for children, such as Phu Giao district Youth Union; or jointly built mini playgrounds for children in Dau Tieng district.

In order to make children's summer more meaningful, leaders of communes also directed Youth Union and Women's Union to organize summer activities for children. Many communes organized summer activities by renovating football fields, badminton, volleyball courts of Culture - Sports Center, Cultural House for children to have places for exercising. In addition, in order to minimize child injuries during the summer, People's Committee of communes also warned households of children’s accidents and injuries in summer.
