Completing project on recognition of second-class city

The most powerful movement at present in Di An city is investment activities to develop the local urban infrastructure. The city’s technical and social infrastructure system has always received investment in construction in accordance with the planning orientation, basically achieving many important results, creating conditions to promote the local commercial, service, industrial and urban development...Most of the city's second-class urban criteria have been met. Many key infrastructure projects in the city have been invested. Many urban and residential areas have come into operation, creating a new look and promoting the local socio-economic development.

In recent years, Di An city’s traffic infrastructure system has undergone a drastic change with dozens of key traffic projects built. Many works and projects are being rushed for completion. These works are creating a new look, playing a special role in removing traffic "bottlenecks", laying the foundation for the city’s development. Outward traffic roads with regional connectivity, local economic development have been actively implemented under the plan, connecting with neighboring localities inside and outside the province, such as: DT743b, North-South 3, East-West main axis, My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway, extended My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway...The city’s transport and logistics activities have developed strongly, connecting with neighboring localities, meeting the local general development needs.

Besides, the city’s urban infrastructure is increasingly spacious and modern. The city's electricity, road, school and station infrastructure system is invested in a synchronous way. All roads under the management of the city are covered with asphalt. The city’s economic - technical infrastructure system is step by step commensurate with urban development requirements. The city’s education, health care, and culture-sports works are invested with commensurate scale to meet the people's needs. In the city, there are currently 116 investment projects in residential, urban and concentrated housing areas, with 864.8 hectares (including 6 social housing projects). As of now, 113 projects have been implemented, creating an increasingly modern urban appearance, basically meeting the accommodation needs of the people.

Vo Anh Tuan, Vice-Chairman of Di An city’s People's Committee said that the city has set a target of being recognized as a second-class city in 2022, basically meeting the criteria of a first-class city in 2025 under the urban development program towards building it into a smart, civilized and modern city. To realize this goal, the city is giving priority to investing resources in many urban infrastructure projects to create a spacious and modern urban image. In addition to projects invested by the province, Di An city is also continuing focusing on investing in technical and social infrastructure in a modern and synchronous direction. In particular, Di An city has set out orientations to change the functions of industrial parks to become urban areas, aiming to create a premise for the fast and strong development of the local high-quality trade and service sector.

Focusing on planning

Di An city is currently focusing on urban planning. The city has basically finished adjusting its urban development planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2040; implement and approve detailed planning for urban development areas, cultural, physical training and sports centers, residential and commercial areas. Currently, the city is urgently implementing urban rejuvenation to match its development scale.

According to development orientations to 2030, Di An city will be an industrial-service-educational city, a traffic hub by road, railway and a part of waterways of the South Binh Duong region and the East Ho Chi Minh city, where has an important position in terms of national defense - security. By 2040, Di An will be a service-education-industry city, a university urban center, a regional traffic hub, in which industry is oriented to develop intensively.

Accordingly, the city continues investing in technical infrastructure of roads, including the belt road 3, the Northeast belt road 1, the belt road 2, the road connecting Song Than overpass with Pham Van Dong street in Ho Chi Minh city...The city also continues building urban development areas, namely Northeastern Di An new urban area, commercial service area associated with Song Than station, commercial service area associated to Mien Dong bus station and metro station areas along the belt road 3 under the TOD model...while investing in logistics infrastructure, modernizing infrastructure and equipment for existing warehouses, upgrading and expanding ICD TBS - Tan Van connecting with Binh Duong port...

As for the general planning of Di An city, Mr. Tuan said that Di An city’s People's Committee has submitted the local plan for socio-economic development to 2030, with a vision to 2050 and the local urban planning project to 2030, with a vision to 2050 to provincial Party Standing Committee for approval. These  two options were highly appreciated by provincial Party Standing Committee, creating a motivation for Di An city to further improve during the progress towards a first-class city.

According to Vo Anh Tuan, Vice-Chairman of Di An city’s People's Committee, planning plays an important role in urban construction and development. The city’s urban planning projects need to go one step ahead on the principle of ensuring the sustainable development of the urban ecosystem, creating more green spaces for water surface and functional areas that must satisfy criteria for the local environmental quality, economic development.
