Over 1,000 “Huynh Van Luy” scholarships awarded to poor-but-excellent pupils

On July 15, the family of martyr Huynh Van Luy held a ceremony to mark the 100^th birth anniversary of the martyr (1916-2016) and his 60^th death anniversary (1956-2016); the 5^th death anniversary of heroic Vietnamese mother Nguyen Thi Hon (2011-2016) in Tan Uyen town’s Bach Dang commune.

Huynh Van Luy was born on May 1, 1916 in a family with patriotic tradition. Following this tradition, his descendants have always tried to work, study and shared difficulties with the community. In 1990, his family and some donors set up the “Huynh Van Luy” scholarship fund. More than 1,000 “Huynh Van Luy” scholarships worth more than VND1billion were awarded to poor-but-excellent pupils during the past 20 years.

On this occasion, the “Huynh Van Luy” scholarship fund awarded 21 scholarships worth VND1millio-VND1.5million each to 19 poor-but-excellent pupils and 2 excellent ones at Huynh Van Luy junior high school in Tan Uyen town.
