Passenger trips increased by 131% over the same period in 2022 during holidays of April 30 and May 1

On the afternoon of May 3, Nguyen Chi Hieu - Deputy Director of Binh Duong provincial Department of Transport said that on the occasion of Hung King's death anniversary and the 48th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 to April 30, 2023), and Labor Day (May 1), businesses and cooperatives operating passenger transport on fixed routes made 975 trips - an increase of nearly 131% while transporting more than 15,000 passengers or 161% over the same period in 2022. Transport units strictly comply with regulations of the health sector when transporting passengers, especially regulations on prevention of COVID-19 epidemic.

Transport business units actively appoint staff to be on duty at the bus stations without congestion of passengers because of the lack of service vehicles during the holidays.

According to Nguyen Chi Hieu, the Department of Transport on the holidays has directed traffic inspectors to regularly patrol and control roads in the province, coordinated with relevant units in patrolling to prevent and promptly handle violations of roadside encroachment, illegal trading in markets. Traffic order and safety on inland waterways and riverside passenger terminals are also ensured.

Regarding traffic accidents, 5 have occured during the holidays in the whole province killing 3 people, injuring 9, and damaging 8 vehicles. Compared to the same period in 2022, 2 cases decreased, 1 death increased, and 1 injured increased.
