Pheasant helps to improve income

Failing to earn from garden chicken, Quyen suffered from depleting fundings before succeeded in earning from pheasant rearing. Taking advantage of the plantation space, he took all the funding from his wife to rear garden chicken; however, the pandemics took away all his investment and turned down his efforts.In desperate moves of switching to other economic forms, he overheard from people talking about pheasant; and, his efforts of retrieving lost was begun.From the beginning of 2011, taking all the family savings, Quyen came to Binh Phuoc Province to buy 20 pheasants to reproduce to about 200 ones. By friends’ support and guides, he succeeded.According to Quyen, averagely one pheasant of his can give 170 to 180 eggs from March to October annually. Those eggs eyed averagely 80% of hatching and 95% of live hatch.The seedlings are sold at VND 50,000 each for 1-week old.As for pheasant for slaughtering, after 3 to 4 months, one pheasant can reach 1.5kg to be sold at VND 250,000 a kilo. Besides, he also offers ornament pheasant to those who need at VND 4 million and higher for one couple of pheasant.Quyen said that passion and carefulness have made up his career of pheasant rearing.Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Chair of An Binh Commune Association of Farmers said that An Binh Commune was a pure agricultural locality with majority of rubber trees planted. In 10 years recently, many families chose to switch from rubber trees to sustainable production.
