Phu Giao puts focus on hi-tech agriculture

Phu Giao district has concentrated on developing hi-tech agricultural models, creating clean agricultural products with high quality at severe requirements of the market. With more than 100 farms on agricultural production, the district has become one of top localities in the hi-tech agricultural development of the province.

Production value on growth

To Van Dat, Vice-Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee said that the district has bent on urban and hi-tech agricultural production, contributing to the local socio-economic development.

Under the local action program on agricultural development and new-style rural construction in association with ecological development for the 2016-2020 period, the district has reached positive results in urban and hi-tech agricultural production. So far, the district has developed 113 farms on urban and hi-tech agricultural production. The district’s agricultural production value has been estimated at around VND75million per hectare. For fruit tree-growing areas in the district, their production value has reached VND500million per hectare and above. Noticeably, An Thai hi-tech agricultural park invested by U&I Agricultural Joint Stock Company in An Thai commune have worked effectively, contributing to creating jobs for the local laborers.

Mr.Dat added that the district has implemented policies on supporting organizations, individuals with urban and hi-tech agricultural models under provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.04/2016/QD-UBND. The whole district has had 25 organizations, individuals making investment procedures with total capital of more than VND1.3trillion, including VND254billion in preferential loan from the above-mentioned policy. They have brought initial economic efficiency, actively contributing to the local socio-economic development.

For better development, the district also mobilized enterprises, facilities producing and processing agricultural products to take part in the market-day for safe agricultural products and collective economic products” over the past time. Upon this, the market-day absorbed the participation of enterprises taking the lead in the urban and hi-tech agricultural field, namely U&I Agricultural Joint Stock Company in An Thai commune, Vinamit Joint Stock Company in Phuoc Sang commune, Kim Long Cooperative in An Binh commune, Chien Thang farm in Tam Lap commune, Phuoc Tin production facility in Vinh Hoa commune, Thuy tea facility in Phuoc Vinh township. This contributed to help the district’s agro-forestry-fishery production value in 2019 reach more than VND4.2trillion.

Associated with new-style rural construction

The district’s urban and hi-tech agricultural production has been implemented in association with new-style rural construction. The district now has 10 communes recognized as new-style rural communes after 10 years of implementing the new-style rural construction program

Over the past time, the district’s agricultural sector also organized many seminars on urban and hi-tech agricultural production; focused on trademark development; carried out a model on “Place of safe agricultural products” for the phase 2 in association with consumption chains…Some hi-tech agricultural models in the district have initially upheld their efficiency.

Mr.Dat said that the district’s implementation of policies on urban and hi-tech agricultural promotion has reached changes in both quality and quantity. But, there have still been some difficulties in getting access to preferential loans, reaching sustainable consumption for citrus fruit trees…

In 2020, the district will strive to reach the growth of 5.8%-6.5% in agro-forestry-fishery production value. In order to gain the above target, according to Mr.Dat, the district has focused on some major tasks in agriculture, home industry; given priority to hi-tech agriculture models, promote agriculture in association with ecotourism, boost activities on linkage and popularization of the local agricultural products. For long-term development, the district will research and apply intensive policies, strengthen sci-tech consultancy services, supply hi-tech services, software solutions and useful ones in production support.
