Pink drops of compassion

With the theme of “Blood donation in early spring-Happiness is multiplied”, the voluntary blood donation program at the 2015 provincial “Pink Spring” festival has absorbed a large number of participants. The success of the festival has contributed to helping the locality reach 2015’s set target of mobilizing 16,000 units of blood, up 1,500 units of blood compared to that of 2014.

With the motto of “Blood donation saves people’ lives”, TDM city’s Mobilization Board of Voluntary Blood Donation has just mobilized more than 200 officials, members and volunteers to give 174 units of blood in response to the campaign of voluntary blood donation on the 2015 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival and the 2015 provincial “Pink Spring” festival. The festival has also been organized at Co.opMart Binh Duong supermarket with the participation of 150 staff and customers.

It is known that the province’s voluntary blood campaign on Tet and “Pink Spring” festival have been implemented widely and deeply with the goal of collecting an amount of blood that is equivalent to 17% of 2014’s plan. Nguyen Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, Head of provincial Steering Board of Voluntary Blood Donation said that not only the “Pink Spring” festival, the voluntary blood donation campaign in the province has reached a robust development with the participation of people from all strata, step by step satisfying the local demand for blood safety. Particularly, the whole province in 2014 received 14,508 units of blood, up more than 1,000 units of blood compared to that of 2013…

To achieve the above result, provincial Steering Board of Voluntary Blood Donation attached special importance to propaganda work, raising public awareness of voluntary blood donation. Along with organizing seminars and training courses on voluntary blood donation, provincial Steering Board of Voluntary Blood Donation also joined hands with the mass media to speed up propaganda activities on voluntary blood donation; issued more than 4,600 leaflets, 180 books on education of voluntary blood donation…

Striving to ensure 2015’s target

In 2015, Binh Duong has been assigned a target of mobilizing 16,000 units of blood, up 1,500 units of blood compared to that of 2014. Other targets are to increase the ratio of people giving blood to 0.83%-0.9%; maintaining 100% of the number of people with voluntary blood donation…

According to Mr.Liem, provincial Steering Boards of Voluntary Blood Donation at all levels must put forward key tasks as well as concrete measures to achieve the set targets. Provincial Steering Board of Voluntary Blood Donation will attach special importance to organizing training courses on knowledge regarding blood, voluntary blood donation and safety in blood transfusion; set up blood donation clubs; tighten control over the activities of Steering Boards of Voluntary Blood Donation at all levels to maintain and promote the local campaign on voluntary blood donation. The province will also well realize a task of honoring outstanding blood donation collectives and individuals.
