Update: 16-09-2013 | 00:00:00

PM Nguyen Tan Dung has expressed his hope that the Vietnam-Japan friendship parliamentary alliance will seek to increase Japan’s official development assistance for Vietnam.

While receiving Takebe Tsutomu, special advisor to the alliance, in Hanoi on September 14, Dung noted with satisfaction the positive and substantial development of Vietnam-Japan relations, especially after both countries established their strategic partnership in 2010.

He acknowledged contributions by Tsutomu himself and the alliance to strengthening bilateral relations over the years, especially Tsutomu’s initiative to build a joint university in Vietnam.

He proposed the alliance help to implement key cooperation projects between the two countries agreed upon by their top leaders.

Tsutomu said a feasibility study for the Vietnam-Japan University located at Hanoi’s Hoa Lac hi-tech park is under way, aiming to build a multi-sectoral university meeting international standards.

He asked the Vietnamese government to accelerate the appraisal process to carry out the project on schedule, turning it into a friendship and long-term cooperation model between Vietnam and Japan.
