Province marks 69th anniversary of August Revolution and National Day

Early August 29, provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee grandly held a get-together to mark the 69^th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19), National Day (September 2) and award the title of “Vietnamese heroic mothers” to mothers.

Attending the get-together were Nguyen Minh Triet, former State President; Mai The Trung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial NA delegation together with leaders of provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee, Vietnamese heroic mothers, revolutionary veterans, former leaders of Song Be-Binh Duong over periods…

Delivering a speech at the get-together, Le Thanh Cung, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of provincial People’s Committee affirmed that the glorious victory of the 1945 August Revolution was a great turning point in Vietnam’s history of construction and defence. The victory ended more than a century under colonial rule and a millennium of feudalism to establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and begin a new era of freedom and national independence following the principles of socialism. The people, who were formerly slaves, finally became the sole owners of their country and society…

Upholding the fine traditions of a heroic land and inheriting from achievements of the old Song Be province, Binh Duong has brought into full play the local potentials; tapped all resources for investment attraction, promoting socio-economic development. According to Mr.Cung, 2014 is a significant year in the implementation of the Resolution of the 9^th provincial Party Congress. It is predicted that economy will continue facing difficulties, so the local authorities at all levels need to uphold their self-help for self-improvement, flexible and creative spirit to be able to successfully  tasks for 2014 and the following years.

At the get-together, provincial Council for Emulation and Reward announced the State President’s decision on awarding the title of “Vietnamese heroic mother” to 398 mothers. On behalf of provincial leaders, Mr.Cung wished them good health and a long life. The 40, 50, 55, 60, 65-year Party membership insignias were awarded or posthumously awarded to 210 Party members.

On the morning of the same day, leaders of provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, armed forces, mass organizations...also visited provincial Martyrs’ Cemetery and offered incense to commemorate heroes, martyrs who fall down for national independence and freedom.
