Purchasing power surges during holiday

By our observation, purchasing power of markets and commercial centers in the province has surged on April 30 and May 1 of this year.

Lotte Mart Binh Duong announced of 30% of growth in purchase power comparing to normal days for meat, fish, seafood, vegetables, and fruits. Tran Thi Hong Quyen, the Deputy Director of CoopMart Binh Duong II in Thu Dau Mot City informed of 6 times of buyer quantity comparing to normal days at peak shopping hours of 6:30 through 10:00 and 17:00 through 21:00. The surge of buyers has pushed up sales of CoopMart Binh Duong II by 5 times comparing to normal days.

According to Ho Quoc Nguyen, the Manager of Public Relation of Big C, on April 30 and May 1, quantity of buyers has increased by 50% comparing to normal days thanks to enhancement in advance and stocking up of about 50% of more commodities.

In markets of the province, during the holiday, purchasing power is stronger than normal days. By observation at Thu Dau Mot market place in the morning of May 2, we could see stronger buying power for foods. Oanh, a vegetable shop owner at Thu Dau Mot marketplace informed of double buying at her shop from normal day, making her adding continual commodities to satisfy the needs.

By observation, on April 30 and May 1, retail vegetables at market places have increased by VND 3,000 to 5,000 per kg. As for seafood, the price has increased by VND 20,000 – 40,000 per kg because of less supply in higher needs. Meantime, prices in local supermarkets and commercial centers have been stable.
