The Group supports its members in terms of technology and science to ensure sanitation in cooperation with local Veterinary Authority to clean up the farmsteads and prevent diseases.Currently, for the price of VND 500 to 550 per quail egg, farmers can earn VND 300 to 350 of profit per quail egg.Locally, many people have emerged from and escape poverty. Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh is one of the local people being successful with average income of VND 20 million a month. In 2012, at the exhibition of excellent models of farmers in Ben Cat Town, Thanh took the attention of many people who placed orders, prompting him to expand the egg production of the quail. In the same shoes of Mr. Thanh, Mr. Nguyen Van Nguyen has been in the quail rearing field for 12 years after switching from swine husbandry. Nguyen started with 1,000 quails but was turned down by H5N1 influenza in 2003. He restarted in 2004 to sell quail balut which is 30-50% higher than unfertile eggs.By 2009, Nguyen succeeded in creating 5,000-egg hatching machine with successful ratio of 90%. By now, the quail eggs from his farmstead have reached various provinces of Dong Nam Bo Region. Currently, his farmstead has 7,000 quails giving him higher income.“I can earn much from selling to merchants at VND 40,000-50,000 kg of meat quails, and VND 300-350 an unfertile egg, and VND 500-550 a quail balut,” said Nguyen.Mr. Pham Van Hoang, Head of Quarter 3 Association of Farmers informed that people have been facing problems with quail breeds, prompting Ben Cat Town Association of Agriculture Promotion to support 10 households in the group with loans of VND 200 million each to improve the quail breeds. Besides, the association also organizes training courses to bring scientific knowledge and technology to farmers to improve the rearing of quails.Reported by N.Huong-H.Nhung – Translated by Vi Bao
