Seeking solutions to raise incomes of farmers growing perennial trees

Early September 20, a delegation from the Party Central Office, led by Tran Thanh Binh, Deputy Chief of the office, had a working session with Binh Duong Agriculture-Forestry Company and Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Company in the framework of its fact-finding trip on perennial trees in the southeastern region.

At the working session, representatives of the two companies reported on issues regarding cashew and rubber trees in their production and business activities. The delegation spoke highly of the efforts by the two companies in guiding farmers to choose plants in line with the local conditions on soil and weather.

*On the afternoon of the same day, the delegation continued working with provincial Party Committee Office. Nguyen Huu Tu, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee received the delegation.

Reportedly, rubber is a kind of perennial tree with the largest growing area in the local structure of plants with nearly 135,000 hectares, followed by cashew with more than 1,600 hectares and pepper with nearly 410 hectares. At the working session, relevant sectors analyzed difficulties in making the shift of the local structure of plants in the coming time.

Mrs.Binh also required Binh Duong to reconsider central and local policies in order to remove issues that are not in line with the real situation of farmers specialized in growing perennial trees; soon develop factories processing products from perennial trees, helping farmers in this field stabilize consumption market and increase their incomes.
