Smart City – Turning towards sustainable development

In the afternoon of November 26th, three dialogues within 2018 Horasis Meeting took place about: Re-evaluation of decision-making styles; Smart City - Turning towards Sustainable Development for Asian Cities; Shaping the new business model.

At the meeting about reappraisal of decision-making styles, speakers raised the question of how to easily understand other people's basic thinking about accomplishment, relationship and power; What solution to enhance the inherent achievements of Asia?...

Nguyen Van Quyen, Director of Quyen Quy Production, Trade and Service Company, said that the seminar showed that any country or organization or business should make its decision based on knowledge (intelligence), specific culture of each region, and individual personality of each person to make that decision effective. For instance, human behaviors are based on brain and heart. In order to make a successful decision, it is important to satisfy these two factors to gain high efficiency. In addition, depending on the work and qualifications, satisfaction rate of the recipient, the decision would bring benefits and efficiency.

At the seminar on Smart City - Turning towards Sustainable Development of Asian Cities, speakers talked about the wave of migration to cities in the last decade; urbanization in Asia. According to speakers, these issues could be just the beginning of major social, economic and environmental changes. So how to solve these problems; How can these cities stimulate sustainable growth? This was an issue receiving particular attention of participants.

Peter Portheine, R&D Director of Brainport Group, understood thoroughly issues, like structure, healthcare, clean-green energy of smart city. According to him, Binh Duong province should focus on minimizing energy consuming sources in smart city, such as energy for traffic, electricity, recycling...

At the dialogue on shaping the new business model, speakers raised the question of what new business models need to be created to preserve local cultures but not to be conservative to global standards; Where will the platforms begin? which country will be the lead for this transformation; How fast business schools change their curriculum to adapt?... Experts also talked about new modern business forms, the 4.0 industry such as digital technology, social networking, Internet of things, such as services of Grab, Uber.
