Solutions to help orthodox press agencies assert their position

On the afternoon of September 21, the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper organized the 2024 Editorial Directors' Forum with the theme of “Journalism Solutions: A Path for Traditional Media? in Binh Thuan province’s Phan Thiet city. The forum was attended by over 100 editors-in-chief from central and local media agencies as well as leaders from press management agencies.

Opening the forum, Le Tran Nguyen Huy, Acting Editor-in-Chief of the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper shared: “Traditional media has been under significant competitive pressure from social media. However, the current reality of journalism has shown that traditional media should not and cannot compete with social media in terms of the speed of news delivery. Therefore, in order to ensure its survival, generate revenue and retain readers, traditional media must seek new paths. The forum consisted of two discussion sessions. The first session's theme was “Journalism solutions - Trends and Potential”. The second session's theme was “Implementing journalism solutions: What methods and models are effective?"

The candid exchanges, shared experience and proposed solutions from the 2024 Editorial Directors' Forum will contribute to forming up Vietnam’s journalism trend more obviously, thereby helping editorial offices adopt more suitable practices in their journalistic operations, promoting the development of revolutionary journalism in Vietnam in the digital age. Also at the forum, delegates contributed to the “Green Dream” Fund to support storm and flood affected people in the Northern provinces.
