Workers offered 100 billion VND to shop for Tet online

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) has decided to spend 100 billion VND (3.9 million USD) to provide its members with vouchers to shop on an designated online platform ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet).

The move aims to support 200,000 workers to prepare for Tet – the biggest traditional festival in Vietnamr, and promote the Government’s digital transformation policy, particularly cashless payment, the VGCL said on December 20.

Eligible recipients of the 500,000 VND vouchers are workers who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in labour and trade union activities, as well as disadvantaged and low-income ones.

The online Tet market, https://chotet.congdoan.vn, is taking place from December 20, 2024 through January 20, 2025.

As of December 20, as many as 30 businesses have been qualified to sell products on this market, offering 1,515 essential items including food, beverages, decorations, clothing, and housewares.

Shoppers will also benefit from promotions offered by the participating businesses such as free shipping for orders valued at 200,000 VND or more, and discounts ranging from 10% to 67% compared to normal market prices./.
