Yesterday of April 22, in Binh Duong, the Deputies Affairs Department of the National Assembly Standing Committee coordinated with the Standing Committee of the People's Council of Binh Duong Province to hold the Standing Conference of the People's Councils of the Southeast provinces and cities in 2021-2026 tenure. The conference focused on sharing and discussing good experience to improve the quality of People's Council activities.
Exchanging experience and tightening relations
Speaking to welcome the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial National Assembly Delegation, said that the Standing Conference of the People's Councils in the southeast region for the first time in 2021-2026 tenure with the theme of "Solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of operations of People's Councils at all levels", is an activity of great significance. The delegates focused on discussing difficulties and problems and finding solutions to further improve the operation quality of the People's Council in the coming time in a valuable opportunity for the People's Council of Binh Duong province to learn, exchange experiences and strengthen relationships with the Standing People's Councils of neighboring provinces and cities inside and outside the region. In particular, absorbing the results and directions at the conference, the Standing Board of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee will focus on leading the Party Committee of the provincial People's Council to concretize and organize the implementation in order to increasingly and further improve the operation quality of People's Councils at all levels in the province.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Member of CPV Central Committee, Head of the National Assembly's Deputies Affairs Committee, the conference is an opportunity for Standing People's Councils of provinces and cities to meet, exchange, discuss, evaluate and draw conclusions. The lessons learned are to set up good models, creativity, innovation, breakthrough and flexibility in the organization and operation of the People's Council. At the same time, this is also a forum for delegates to discuss key tasks for the People's Council's activities in the coming time such as ensuring the comprehensive leadership and direction of the Party Committee for the operation of the People's Council, exchange of experience and proposal of specific solutions to promote and improve the role and responsibility of the Standing Committee of the People's Council in proactive coordination with the People's Committee and the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee at the same level in formulating plans and programs of meetings. The conference discussed, exchanged experience, and proposed solutions to promote and improve the roles and responsibilities of People's Council committees and People's Council deputies in participating in the preparation of content to be submitted to meetings.
People’s Council operation quality to be improved
At the conference, delegates from the provinces and cities in the Southeast region focused on discussing matters such as experience in improving the efficiency of coordination between the Standing Committee of the People's Council and the Standing Board of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee and the People's Committee and the role of the People's Council in COVID-19 prevention and control. In particular, the delegates focused on discussing, exchanging experience, and proposing solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of operations, covering all areas of operations of the People's Council from ensuring the comprehensive leadership of the People's Council to continuing to innovate the method and organization of activities of the People's Council in performing the decision-making and supervisory functions in accordance with the laws.
Many opinions say that, in the context of the strong outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, provinces and cities in the Southeast region have been severely affected deeply into many activities of social life. Along with the efforts of the whole political system, the People's Councils of provinces and cities have continued to promote their strengths, bravery, and dynamism, while constantly exploring and creating to meet urgent requirements from the practice and contribute an important part of the whole country to perform well the "dual task" of preventing and controlling the COVID-19 epidemic and recovering and developing the society and economy.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh stated that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a heavy impact on many social activities in our country. Along with the efforts of the whole political system, the People's Councils of provinces and cities in the country in general and the Southeast region in particular have achieved quite comprehensive results in many fields including the initiative coordination with the People's Committee and the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee at the same level in both epidemic prevention and control and ensuring economic development and social security, the well performance of the functions, tasks and powers prescribed by law and instructions of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the promptly completion of the organizational work of the People's Council, the renovateed organization of meetings in the direction of adaptation and flexibility in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, theregulated activities of the committees of the People's Council and the Deputies' Group of the People's Council, the well maintained meetings of the Standing People's Council, and the organization of many thematic meetings during the year in order to take the initiative in deciding important matters in the localities.
Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Member of the CPV Central Committee, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly highly appreciated the suggestions proposed at the Standing Conference of the People's Councils of the provinces and cities in the Southeast region. He said that the provinces and cities in the Southeast region have fast and strong economies, making great contributions to the country's GDP. Therefore, Standing People's Councils of provinces and cities need to improve their roles and positions to become more dynamic, braver, and more creative in joined hands and side by side stance with localities in efforts to restore socio-economic development. People's Councils of provinces and cities need to renovate their operation methods, especially the well-organized monitoring activities while renovating the organization of meetings of the provincial People's Council as well as the work of contacting voters and receiving citizens.
