Strong will and brainpower

Update: 06-02-2011 | 00:00:00

From a small nation, Vietnam, under the leadership of the CPV, has grown much stronger, winning the prestige and trust of the international community to engage in solving global issues.

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) was established on February 3, 1930. This was an important event in Vietnam’s the 20th century history.

The establishment of the Party marked a great turning point in Vietnam’s revolution and identified a correct political line and road for national liberation and reunification.

A great turning point

At the end of the 19th century, Vietnam was still under the occupation and domination of French colonialists who used most brutal methods to repress our people.

Responding to the appeal of the patriotic Nguyen kings and feudal intellectuals, our people rose against the oppression and injustice. However, all acts of resistance and patriotic movements from north to south were all blooding suppressed. Why did they all fail? It was because the Vietnamese people lacked a sound leadership, an effective organisation and necessary armed forces.

Ho Chi Minh said that the setting up of the CPV on February 3, 1930 marked a great turning point in Vietnam’s revolutionary history. It showed that the Vietnamese proletariat was mature and able to lead the revolution.

The Party’s brief political platform and strategy prepared by Nguyen Ai Quoc (another name of Ho Chi Minh) was adopted at a conference to merge the three communist parties that operated in Vietnam at that time. These two political documents were a creative application of Marxism-Leninism to the specific situation in Vietnam.

Great achievements

Since its establishments, the CPV has led the people in their patriotic movements. The patriotic spirit of the Vietnamese nation was brought into full play in the Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Movement in 1930-1931, the Democratic Movement in 1936-1939 and the Revolutionary High Tide from 1941 to 1945.

The success of the August Revolution in 1945 and the resistance wars against the French and the American was based on the Party’s clear-sighted leadership and its close ties with the Vietnamese people.

The Party met numerous challenges in the post-war reconstruction period and also made a number of mistakes. However, with its long-established tradition and strong will, the Party analysed and handled realistically. Since then, the Party has bravely taken all responsibilities before the people. The national renovation initiated and led by the CPV has brought about great changes.

The people’s material and spiritual life has been improved. The political system and national unity has been consolidated. Political security and social safety and order have been maintained. Vietnam has been recognised by the international community as a model for poverty reduction. Its position and prestige in the world has been raised.

From a small nation, Vietnam, under the leadership of the CPV, has grown much stronger, winning the prestige and trust of the international community to engage in solving global issues. Vietnam has successfully played its role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and hosted many regional and international conferences. With great achievements won over the last 81 years under the Party leadership, we all feel proud and fully confident in future successes.
