Dau Tieng District has engaged in promoting agriculture development by encouraging high-tech investment to agricultural urban area and production. However, the district is facing various obstacles which should be removed by robust measures to dramatically change the appearance of rural area.Robust effectsDau Tieng District is considered as an agricultural locality of rice, rubber trees, husbandry, and aquaculture. Anh Perennial tree area covers over 48,000ha, of which 46,956ha is for rubber trees, 161.05ha for fruits, 23ha for black pepper, and over 70ha for cashew nuts.As reported by Dau Tieng District Chamber of Economics, the 2-year agriculture production value in Dau Tieng District grew by 12.2% a year for plants and animal rearing.Swine, poultry, and aquaculture have been developed in farms with high-tech application in planning and agricultural urban areas. Total agriculture production value in 2013 reaches nearly VND 2,000 billion with over VND 500 million added comparing to 2010.The Project of “Constructing high-tech application in long-term cultivation of mangosteen” has been applied to 5,000-m2 orchards of Mr. Bui Van Man at Ben Tranh Hamlet in Thanh An Commune and of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Xinh’s at Le Danh Cat Hamlet in Thanh Tuyen Commune.Dau Tieng District is aiming for step-by-step establishment and development of delicacy orchards locally on 15ha of mangosteen at Thanh Tuyen Commune.The same improvements have been made on rice with reduced plant protective agents and fertilizers. Accordingly, 4.5 to 5,2 tons of rice could be yielded on 1 ha.Improvements have been made on rubber trees, mushrooms, and orchid to gain higher income.The pivotal project of 3-ha orchid gardens is very effective.In husbandry, the district has 6 collectives and 120 farms with cattle herd of 1,677 buffaloes, 5,400 cow, 47,000 swines, and 2,460,500 poultries.Areas for aquaculture cover 22.5ha with total production of 280 tons and production value of 61.78 billion or 9.03% of total agricultural production of the province.Concentrated investment capacityMr. Nguyen Tan Luc, Head of Dau Tieng District Chamber of Economics, said: “General planning of urban areas in Minh Hoa, Thanh Tuyen, and Long Hoa should be approved sooner to assure type-5 urban areas with harmonious development of social infrastructure to suit programs and plans of high-tech agricultural urban development.Luc added that the determination of such scale and supporting methodology have been averagely made without large scale effects.
