Taking care of young workers at lodging facilities

Over the past time, provincial Youth Federations at all levels made great efforts in gathering and building sub-unions for youth workers at lodging facilities. The support activities of the sub-unions contributed to taking care of workers living away from home to live, work in peace and contentment in the province.

Diverse support activities

Law dissemination activities among young workers at lodging facilities are regularly performed by grassroots Youth Federation branches. Along with many other localities, the Youth Federation branch of Hiep Thanh ward in Thu Dau Mot city has just realized law dissemination among members and young workers of the sub-union in quarter 1’s group 12. Around 40 members of the sub-union participated in a propaganda session about the new points of the Labor Code in 2019, the Law on Social Insurance in 2014.  The reporter of the propaganda session also answered questions on some legal issues…The propaganda session aimed at raising legal awareness among workers, limiting disputes, lawsuits and conflicts in the working environment at enterprises. The ward’s Youth Federation branch also cooperated with provincial Library’s Youth Union branch to donate a law bookcase to the sub-union so that workers can be equipped with legal knowledge every day.

Provincial Youth Federations at all levels have also diversified useful activities to attract the participation of workers. Particularly, they focused on organizing activities to give healthcare, legal consultancy, visited and offered gifts to young workers with unexpected difficult circumstances or those hit by labor accidents, held cultural exchanges. Besides, they mobilized proprietors to provide practical support to young workers, built "Youth Model" lodging facilities. Youth volunteer squads come to each lodging facility to learn about young people’ thoughts and aspirations in order to have solutions to support and stabilize the local order-security situation in a timely way...

Every year, provincial Youth Federation maintains the organization of the festival “Giving strength to young workers”, the program "Lighting up the dream of young workers"; organizes activities to give train and coach tickets to employees with difficult circumstances to return to their hometown while providing free medical check-ups, medicine and holding cultural &sports activities.

Enhancing care

In order to further strengthen the task of uniting, gathering young workers, the Youth Federation of Phu Chanh ward in Tan Uyen town has just coordinated with the Organization Board of the Project on uniting, gathering young workers to establish the "Bright Star" sub-union for young workers at Nguyen Van Thanh's lodging facility in Phu Trung quarter while donating the "Dream” room to a needy member with the amount of VND 14.4 million.

Provincial Youth Unions at all levels have constantly made efforts in mobilizing the establishment of branches and creating playgrounds to improve the spiritual life of young workers by significant activities at lodging facilities. In May, the Youth Federation branch of Uyen Hung ward in Tan Uyen town established a “Vung manh” (strong) sub-union and a club “connecting youth” while organizing a "Happy Sunday" program with many interesting games, contributing to tightening solidarity among young workers.

Tran Bao Lam, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union said: "In order to promote the task of uniting and gathering young workers in accordance with social development, provincial Youth Federations at all levels will further focus on developing their operations in non-State enterprises, lodging facilities; continue effectively implementing provincial project of uniting and gathering young workers for the period of 2021-2025. Provincial Youth Federation will also replicate the model of the “Connecting youth” club and set up coordination mechanisms with social organizations, departments, localities, industrial parks-compounds and businesses to accompany in the work of taking care of and supporting workers at lodging facilities".
