Tan Uyen district makes an intense transition in crops, livestock

In recent years, shifting in crops and livestock at Tan Uyen district is relative fast. However, farmers in Tan Uyen district are changing their crops into highly efficient trees. Tan My commune’s Farmer Association Vice Chairman Mr. Vo Van Phong said, recently, local farmers were moving to other crop plants to replace inefficient rice areas. Crop plants like rubber, pomelo, watermelon have been encouraged to grow, forming effective economic models. Commune Farmer Association will continue to cooperate with related organizations to give training sessions in order to transfer technology to farmers to improve quality of existing models. According to Bach Dang commune People’s Committee Chairman Mr. Pham Van Hoang, Bach Dang commune’s farmers were also shifting to new pomelo, especially green-skin pomelo, thus revenue of these farmers was increased significantly. By now, Bach Dang has 368 ha of pomelo growing area. In addition, Commune People’s Committee attempts to set up models of clean, green vegetable growing in order to replace inefficient rice areas.Regarding to breeding sector, the district is switching to large-scale farms applying high technologies to prevent diseases, environmental pollution, and generate high profits. The district has now 117 farms having over 1,800 ha as total area, including 33 breeding farms and 1 aquaculture farm. Mr. Nguyen Van Thoi, who planting rubber trees, raising pigs and fish at his farm in Tan Lap commune, said, thanks to supporting from local government, his family could develop family economy. At the present, crop plants and live stocks in his farm are generating high revenue. He also said, if output of agricultural products was stable, local farmer’s models like his farm could develop more strongly…Due to guidance of detailed transitions as well as governmental supporting, new agricultural models in Tan Uyen district is progressing positively and bringing high profits. This also contributes to socioeconomic development in the district, especially new rural development program.Tan Uyen district has now over 26,000 ha of perennial crop plants including over 1,700 ha of fruit plants, 22,000 ha of rubber trees, 3,200 ha of grain crops, over 2,800 ha of vegetables, beans, flowers and ornamental plants; over 2,600 buffalos, 8,800 cows, 42,000 pigs and about 1 mln of poultry… Two high-tech agriculture projects are also built up at communes of Hieu Liem and Tan Vinh Hiep.
