Task on ensuring safety for inland waterway traffic achieves good results

Representative of provincial Department of Transportation said that through strengthening the implementation of inspection activities, the province’s work of ensuring order and safety on inland waterway traffic achieved good results in 2022. Specifically, the number of violations decreased compared to the previous year and there were no waterway traffic accidents.

In 2022, provincial Department of Transportation Inspectors coordinated with relevant unit to inspect all berths on the Dong Nai, Saigon and Thi Tinh rivers; coordinated with the Inspector of Waterway Sub-Department of the Southern region to inspect two passenger terminals, including Phu Cuong passenger terminal in Thu Dau Mot city and Ba Mieu passenger terminal in North Tan Uyen district. In addition, provincial Department of Transportation Inspector inspected Song Thu restaurant and 33 means of waterway transport at 19 passenger terminals on Saigon and Dong Nai rivers. Through inspection, the Department Inspector asked for 19 wharf owners and 24 vehicle drivers to sign a commitment not to carry more than the specified number of people and strictly abide by the Law on Inland Waterway Traffic and related regulations.

Also in the year, the Inspector of the Department of Transport made 19 administrative violation records with a total fine of VND 115.2 million while revoking the right to use the certificate of professional competence of the captain for a definite time in 3 cases...
