Yesterday (15-9), in Lai Thieu Town, Thuan An, thousands of people from Thuan An and surrounding areas attended the Ky Yen festival at Tan Thoi spiritual temple. The festival includes many staid rituals such as open-gate, greeting Tan Thoi temple gods, quiet-seeking prayers, and activities of ancient opera.
Yesterday afternoon, organizer has traveled with temple god palanquin around the Lai Thieu marketplace, escorted by many groups of motorcycles, bicycles, dragon and lion dance, car gong and drum with festive music, etc., creating a lively atmosphere in this area (photo). According to organizers, the festival will be held to the end of 17-9 (10-8 of lunar calendar). Ky Yen festival at Tan Thoi spiritual temple is held annually to preserve and maintain traditional beauty of the Vietnamese people. Aside from spiritual worship of gods and those who contributed to explore and preservation of lands in the South, the festival is also a praying time for prosperous country with peaceful people, fine weather, and well-off and happy homes.
