Update: 14-01-2015 | 11:30:26

Training to meet social needs is one of criteria for evaluating quality of a training facility. To do this, in addition to training resources, educational linking with businesses is very important. Recently, Thu Dau Mot University (TDMU) has implemented efficiently educational linking with businesses.

Strengthening association

Since establishment, in addition to infrastructure investments, faculty members’ qualification improvement, TDMU has set up relationships with businesses to assist training. According to vice principal Dr. Hoang Trong Quyen, relationships between TDMU and companies comprise many forms, such as: sending students to companies for probation, lectures, seminars… Among these, association with companies to facilitate students’ probation is important to help students, faculty to accumulate experiences, improve the quality of training and creating employment opportunities for students.

Students of TDMU put questions in the visit at THP Group.

Dr. Hoang Trong Quyen affirmed, every year, TDMU organizes field trips for students in provincial enterprises. These are opportunities for students to know about the actual work environment, have a better orientation in the learning process right from the start. It is also an important preparation for students to meet social needs after graduation.

Positive effects from association

In a field trip at Tan Hiep Phat (THP) Group, employees, managers of THP Group shared their experiences in job interview with students of TDMU. Personnel deputy manager Bui Sinh Vien answered students’ questions of labour regulations, wages, benefits... that trainees or employees must know to protect their own interests when working in any businesses.

Mr. Bui Sinh Vien said, they had to retrain new recruits, because they lacked in soft skills, especially social knowledge, career goals, communication skills... These gaps could be filled, if universities cooperated with businesses to give practical training. In contrast, firms that want to hire qualified employees, saves time and training costs, should contact universities to "order" training needs.

Student Nguyen Thi Lan Huong of TDMU said: “After visits, we can understand the real working environment in enterprises. Thereby, we earned a lot of useful practical knowledge on the basis of the knowledge learned in school ... ".

Building good relationships between universities and businesses has become an objective of TDMU. This is also a way to heighten their reputation in the community. On the other hand, businesses can access a high-quality human resource and save retraining costs.
