Thuan An town leadership meet and talk to the youth

Political and ideological education for the youth, construction of cultural – sports institutions at the grassroots level, policies of vocational training, job introduction, healthcare for the youth etc. were topics to be discussed at the meeting between Thuan An town’s leadership and local youth on the last weekend.

Implementing action plan No. 20 dated November 14^th 2008 launched by Thuan An town Party Executive Committee, Resolution No. 25- NQ/TW dated July 25^th 2008 issued by Central Party Committee (term 10) regarding "Strengthening the Party’s leadership in youth activities in the period of accelerated industrialization and modernization", and youth development program of Thuan An town in the 2011-2020 period, the steering committee of youth development program of Thuan An town held a meeting, dialogue between town leaders and young persons in the town. Participants were leaders of town Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, representatives of agencies and sectors, and more than 150 young members across the town.

Opening the dialogue, Bich Hien, a Youth Unionist in Lai Thieu ward, raised an issue: “Some young cadres have been admitted to the Party before and during the implementation of compulsory enlistment. But due to some reasons, they do not participate in Party activities after returning home. This has raised inadequacies ".

Mr. Truong Van Kiet, who is Head of Public Relations Board under town People’s Committee, shared: “Some young demobilized persons have been absent in local Party meetings, due to difficult family circumstances. This should be paid more attention by local Union cadres to address, reorient these cases”.

According to Binh Chuan ward Youth Secretary Mr. Do Thanh Phuong, it was difficult to establish youth workers Union braches at non-state-owned companies. He wanted to learn experiences to negotiate with businesses. Town Youth Secretary Mr. Ngo Tien Dat said: “We should form a qualified Union branch to show businesses when having chances, thereby, foreign companies could have positive attitude to Youth Union branches. In addition, initially, we should negotiate with small and medium-sized businesses, then larger businesses…”

Mr. Phuong also informed that some university, college graduates couldn’t find appropriate jobs or apply what they had learned into practice. Municipal Education Bureau and Youth Union answered these questions satisfactorily at the meeting.

The meeting also had opinions exchange between young ones. Ms. Vo Thi Tuyet Mai added her opinion about schools running after achievements. Mai said: “In recent years, educational facilities in Thuan An have been overcrowded, thus bringing about mistakes from teachers and schools. Therefore, helps and assistance from parents in educating children are in need to improve educational quality”.

At the meeting, young participants gave their feedbacks on insurance policies for employees, health and reproductive health care for the youth, especially young workers, ethical issues at youth, suggestions for cultural projects, entertaining facilities… 

After more than 3 hours, most questions at the meeting were replied and received high agreement from municipal leadership. Town People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Ms. Huynh Thi Thanh Phuong concluded at the end of the meeting, the dialogue created the opportunity for town leaders to listen to the thoughts, aspirations of the youth as well as shortcomings to have better solutions in the future.

“I hope that competent agencies would continue to focus on education, orientation for the youth; set up cultural institutions to serve physical and spirit living of young persons; simultaneously young people need to learn and work hard to be able to contribute to the national development”, said Mr. Phuong.
