Transport sector: Many contributions to transport infrastructure development

In 2015 was identified as a year of discipline, progress, quality, lower costs, reduced investment capacity, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of infrastructure system by Ministry of Transport. Implementing this guideline, provincial Department of Transport (DoT) proposed several measures to improve accountability and activities’ efficiency of the parties involved in projects; strengthen on-site inspection, improve quality and better control of quality management system in each project. As a result, in the last year, many projects were completed ahead of schedule with high quality and efficiency.

Promoting investment efficiency of works

Binh Duong province is on track to develop with synchronously and modern invested transport infrastructure. Bridge and road system of the province has a total length of thousands of kilometer. In 2015, DoT was allocated 95.1 billion VND to maintain and repair bridges, roads, waterways in the province.

With the aim of improving the efficiency of management, maintenance and exploitation of road and waterway infrastructure, in the last year, DoT implemented decentralization, strengthened inspection, directed units to examine, repair timely projects with emerging damage signs to contribute to ensuring road safety, work protection and completing assigned tasks. In 2015, the maintenance and repair disbursed 85 billion VND, reaching 89.4% target, ensuring smooth traffic on all roads. To achieve this result, DoT followed slowly assigned tasks, then timely detected and handled immediately emerging damages.

DoT also enhanced on-site inspection, improved quality control and quality management systems in each project; promptly handled arising problems of project’s progress and quality. Thus, in 2015, many projects were completed ahead of schedule with high quality and efficiency, like: DT744 street, My Phuoc - Tan Van route, 7A street, An Phu six-way crossroad, Ong Co bridge, Thoi An bridge…

Improving the quality of transport services

Thanks to investments in synchronous, modern transportation infrastructure, in the last year, transport activities in the province attained good results with an average growth of goods transport of % and passenger transport of 7% over the previous year. Namely, fixed-line passenger transport reached 74,126 trips with 1.8 million passengers; public passenger transport by bus 505,194 trips with10.2 million passengers; passenger transport by taxi 430,216 trips with 1.9 million passengers; goods transport by containers 14.4 million tons…

In 2015, provincial transport sector focused on solutions to tightening management of transport operations, enhancing loading capacity control; strengthening management of goods and passenger transport activities to improve the quality of transport services, ensuring traffic order and safety. The sector also met businesses, cooperatives to collect information in order to timely remove difficulties of enterprises. Therefore, the quality of transport services has been improved, transport fees were under control, ensuring the publicity and transparency.

In addition, DoT coordinated with other departments, sectors to implement the project named “Heightening traffic administrative ability, focusing on public transport in Binh Duong province until 2025 with a vision after 2025"; counseled PPC to promulgate a decision replacing regulations on managing and operating public passenger transport by bus in the province. DoT signed agreements with goods wholesalers, warehouses, and transportation enterprises on overloading transport; set up plans for checking, handling violations of overloading transport inside and outside mines, ports in the province.

Besides, in order to ensure smooth traffic, harmonious socio-economic development between urban and rural areas, in the last year, DoT cooperated with other sectors, localities to support key communes in constructing rural roads and urban renovation. As a result, in 2015, the province executed 218 projects with a total length of 211km and total investment of 124 billion VND, thereby, contributing to the successful implementation of new rural construction and urban renovation.
