Vietnam records 5,490 new COVID-19 cases on October 2

Vietnam recorded 5,490 new COVID-19 infections, including 13 imported cases, in the past 24 hours to 5pm on October 2, according to the Ministry of Health.

COVID-19 testing in Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s current largest pandemic hotspot, continued to report the highest number of infections with 2,723 cases, down 947 cases. It was followed by neighbouring Binh Duong province with 1,517cases, down 270; Dong Nai 509, down 226; An Giang 139, up 23, and Long An 107. The capital city of Hanoi reported 14 cases.

The country has to date logged 803,202 COVID-19 cases.

A total of 28,857 patients were given the all-clear on October 2, raising the number of recoveries to 664,938.

Meanwhile, 164 deaths related to COVID-19 were announced on the day, raising the death toll to 19,601.

 As of the end of October 1, over 43.65 million people had been vaccinated with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccines, with more than 10 8 million already receiving full two shots./.
