“Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” campaign gets more pervasive

Update: 22-02-2014 | 00:00:00

The purchasing power of commodities in the domestic market was still very limited, due to economic difficulties. But, Vietnamese goods were still welcomed by residents in the province over the past years. Noticeably, the province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities reached a high growth in 2013. The most remarkable thing was the program of “Bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas”, well satisfying the local residents’ demand for shopping.

Retail sales market on high growth

According to a report by provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities in 2013 was estimated at more than VND89.54trillion. Of the total figure, the State investment sector reached more than VND14.72trillion, up 17.8% while the private investment sector achieved nearly VND72.8trillion, up 26.6%.

The province’s retail sales saw a high growth, but purchasing power was still limited, due to residents’ income going down. For a fast and sustainable development, Binh Duong and other localities nationwide has positively promoted the campaign of “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods”. One of the most important measures to implement the campaign is trade promotion in the domestic market…

Between 2010 and 2012, the Center for Trade Promotion and Economic Information under provincial Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with the People’s Committees of districts, towns to organize 2 market-days of “bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas”, absorbing 230,600 visitors and securing a total revenue of nearly VND19bln. Especially, 2013 was a successful year of the program “bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas” in both quality and quantity. The center last year opened 16 market-days of “bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas and industrial parks”, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors and reaching a total revenue of nearly VND10bln. Provincial Support Center for Young Laborers also organized a market-day for workers.

At the above market-days, enterprises in and out of the province got involved in buying hi-quality Vietnamese goods with preferential prices and attractive promotion policies. They also presented gifts to workers and pupils with difficult circumstances; gave consultancy on reproductive health, love-marriage-family; provided free medical check-ups and medicine for those with difficulties…

Besides, the organizers held music shows at night with the performance of renown singers from HCM city. With the above things, these market-days were not only a place for buying Vietnamese goods, but also an useful cultural exchange festival for workers and rural people after hard working days.

Vietnamese goods promoted in countryside

Regarding orientations for the campaign of “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods”, Nguyen Tan Loc, Vice-Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee said: “The campaign will continue being implemented with a drastic measure of speeding up the program of “bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas”. The local functional agencies also need to strengthen propaganda activities among enterprises and residents. This will help enterprises know and better meet customers’ demand, contributing to promoting the local economic development”.

He also thanked for enterprises, namely Trung Thao, Coop.Mart, Nha Thy, Mai Thu, Minh Suong, Tam Lan, Hung Thanh Tai…, that were always present at the market-days of “bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas” over the past time.

Many enterprises were also very patient with the rural market of Binh Duong, despite  their turnover at a low level. Ominsu Electrical Devices Distribution Company was a typical example for this.

Possibly speaking, the province’s program of “bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas” has actually reached a wide and deep development thanks to its profound social welfare values. After four-year implementation, the province’s rural market-days of Vietnamese goods have created a certain prestige and resound. Many market-days in Dau Tieng, Phuoc Hoa, Uyen Hung…were very successful with total turnover amounting to billions of dong in the current difficult context.

Realizing the good effects of rural market-days of Vietnamese goods, leaders of districts and rubber companies have required provincial Center for Trade Promotion and Economic Information to organize more such market-days on Tet and great holidays. Enterprises have also been very wholehearted to take part in the program. Customers have had more confidence in the market-days and given a higher priority to using Vietnamese goods.
