WB Director vows loans to Vietnam until 2017

The World Bank (WB) will continue providing preferential loans for Vietnam between now and 2017, WB Country Director in Vietnam Victoria Kwakwa told National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in Hanoi on July 23. She hailed the NA for adopting several laws and resolutions, including a resolution on promoting sustainable poverty reduction by 2020, which she said reflects the Vietnamese government’s commitment in this regard. The guest also vowed to work closely with Vietnamese ministries and agencies to better health care and education services, especially in ethnic minority areas. Joint efforts will be made to improve the disbursement of the WB loans in Vietnam , she said. For her part, Vice Chairwoman Ngan spoke highly of the WB’s cooperation with and support for Vietnam over the past time, especially in infrastructure development, poverty reduction, realisation of Millennium Development Goals, international economic integration and technology transfer. Appreciating the Vietnam-WB national strategic partnership strategy in the 2012-2016 period, Ngan assured Kwakwa that Vietnam always treasures the WB’s official development assistance and is determined to speed up its disbursement. She suggested the WB continue to help Vietnam in policymaking via its experience in economic restructuring and loan access. VNA
