99.39% students pass the national high school exam in 2018

Afternoon of July 10th, Department of Education and Training announced the results of the national high school exam in 2018. This year, the whole province has 9,178 high school graduates, accounting for 99.39%. 16 out of 35 high schools (including non-public) achieved the 100% graduation rate.

This year is the second year Ministry of Education hosted the national high school exam with 9 subjects; of which 8 questionnaire tests and 1 test in essay form. This year's tests had a higher degree of dissimilarity and included knowledge of the 11th grade program, so the rate of above-average at each subject decreased compared to the previous year.

According to the statistic of Department of Education and Training, in mathematics, 61% were above average, 8 students reached 8.8 points. English had 33% of above-average, 3 students got the highest score of 9.8. Regarding natural science subjects (physics, chemistry, biology), the number of students achieving high scores was not much, physics and chemistry test had the highest score of 9.5 points, biology 9.25 points. At social science subjects (history, geography, civic education), the highest point in history, geography was 9.5 points, civics education had 4 students achieving 10 points. Literature was the only test in form of essay.

According to assessments of the examination board, exam questions were appropriate and useful for assessing learning capacity, classifying students into group, meeting the requirements of innovation. The tests also integrated knowledge of 11th-grade in accordance with the guidance of Ministry of Education-Training. The tests examined, assessed the level and capacity of students. Most students were aware of the importance of this exam, so they had a good sense of learning, put more effort into finishing tests; students got the skills to create documents, knew how to apply knowledge to meet the requirements of tests. Some papers showed creativity of students and got high results. All students complied with exam regulations, made full effort, completed the tests well and effectively as required.

Nguyen Hong Sang, Director of Department of Education and Training, said that the department had assessed this year exam would be harder than last year, so right from the beginning of the school year, the department invited experienced lecturers of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi University of Pedagogy to give training for all teachers on how to make new exam questions, instruct students on exam skills, and scientifically teaching methods. In addition, the department directed researches, compiled test materials with 11th-grade knowledge for teaching and learning in schools; organized trial tests at the end of the school year help students to have an opportunity for practicing.

National high school exam 2018 closed. All tasks of the 47th Binh Duong Provincial Examination’s Council were performed seriously, properly and successfully. After knowing test results and being recognized for graduation, students are waiting for universities to announce the threshold point for admission to apply to universities.
