Breeding chicken in garden has become a movement of farmer households across province with the high efficiency. The model of raising chicken in garden of Than Van May in Phu Giao district’s Tan Hiep commune is one of fruitful modalities.

With an advantage of an over 1ha rubber plantation, a 78 year old farmer named Than Van May has set up a model of raising chicken in rubber garden since 2006 and the modality has brought high result.  

The cost for the model is not high. He builds many small coops for various groups of chicken to reach a higher efficiency. Besides, he invents a brooder with a capacity of about 200 eggs per time.

He enjoys an income of nearly VND30mil per year. He calculates that if a household has a rubber garden, they only need to build 7 small chicken farms for about 1,000 fowls to enjoy fertilizer for taking care for rubber trees. He affirms that the model of raising chicken in garden can be considered as an effective poverty escape way.
