Material and spiritual lives of children in the province have in recent years been improved as children’s rights have been comprensively implemented. However, in random places of the province are still residing children of harsh circumstances. A remote trip to come true
The framework of Mid-Autumn Festival and scholarship for students getting through hardship to rise up in learning as well as for children of harsh circumstances in Binh Duong province was held for the 21st time in 2022 to get 67 students of harsh circumstances, who are at junior and senior high grades, to visit and talk with children living at SOS Village in Da Lat city of Lam Dong province.
Each student of different background from districts, towns, and cities of the province was in the same trip to Da Lat city – the land of thousand flowers, for 3 days of September 16-18, to be delighted at the yearning wish for a faraway trip to come true.
Father of Nguyen Thi Lan Phuong, born in 2002 and residing at Khanh Binh ward of Tan Uyen town, had soon deceased leaving her mother as the breadwinner whose salary could never cover the livehood of grandparents and schooling of the daughter in a family of hardship. Thus, the dream of a trip to new lands is somewhat unimaginable to Lan Phuong.
Of the same background of losing a father like Lan Phuong, Tran Hung Thanh, born in 2010 and residing tat Ba Da hamlet of Tan Dinh commune in Bac Tan Uyen, dared not dream of any faraway trip with great fun with peers. Therefore, he, ever since his father’s death, was with his disable mother due to double accidents on her legs to help the sales at school canteen to support their time at school. Thanh also helps with the housework and baby-sitting. Talking to us about the trip, Thanh was so impressed by the beauty of Da Lat after his visit to a small-sized American like dessert within Kombi Land Resort and learning about historical and cultural remains.
As for Lan Phuong, the city had a good range of flowers planted and decorated in an eye-catching way. The giant local flowers and unique flower buds at Lam Vien Square. Besides, the Fresh Garden Dalat offered the best constructions from flowers and parks with hundreds of flowers in a colorful picture like many well-known parks in the world.
More compassionate for warmth of heart
Not only did they visit famous tourist destinations, 67 disadvantaged students in the province also had the opportunity to interact with children at SOS Village in Da Lat city where they also gave away meaningful gifts to their friends or made friends with promises to see again in the nearest days.
For Lan Phuong, the trip was really meaningful, particularly, since entering the SOS Children's Village in Da Lat city was something indescribable to her. Lan Phuong said: “I have met a lot of very lovely and polite children who consider the siblings living in the same house as their own. The children told about their small family with all their heart and love. The thing that I regret most on the trip was not being able to bring more gifts to the children. I will definitely be back.”
As for Hung Thanh, after the trip to Da Lat, he made many new friends and lived in much memories. In SOS Village of Da Lat city, many children with special circumstances are living with their own disadvantages as example of even more difficult situations to him. “I feel very fortunate to have been born healthy. Hopefully, the next trip will be longer. I would like to thank the provincial Children's Fund for giving us a trip with many new experiences in life," Hung Thanh added.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Trieu, Director of the provincial Children's Fund, the trip has helped many disadvantaged children have the opportunity to visit and learn about cultural and historical values and to experience the services of children in need; thereby, encouraging and motivating them to have a good sense of progress in learning to become people with the will to strive in life. “The children's dreams of going to school, having fun or beyond are the dreams of becoming engineers, teachers, doctors, etc., and they still need a lot of sharing and companionship from benefactors. Hopefully, benefactors and sponsors will continue to accompany us to help them reach a brighter future, contributing to the community building a happy and prosperous society to be more honored," said Mr. Nguyen Tan Trieu.
