Action plan 2019 to ensure food safety in agricultural sector

Provincial People's Committee has issued an Action Plan to ensure food safety in agricultural sector in 2019. Accordingly, specific objective of the plan is to propagate and disseminate timely and fully legal documents and regulations on food safety, technical regulations on quality of agricultural materials, and food safety for organizations and individuals involved in producing and trading agricultural products and foodstuffs; information on food safety and communication, promotion of food and agricultural products has been strengthened.

The plan also set out the goal of continuing to effectively implement support policies of Provincial People's Committee, especially support policy applied according to good agricultural production practice standards (VietGAP, VietGAHP), in 2019 striving to have at least 15 establishments to be certified and meeting the standards of good agricultural production practice (GAP); the rate of samples violating regulations on residues of plant protection drugs, vegetables, fruits, and residues of chemicals and antibiotics in meat and aquatic products, microbiological pollution in meat and seafood to reduce 10% compared to 2018; the rate of establishments producing and trading agricultural, forestry and aquatic food products meeting regulations on food safety to increase by 10% compared to 2018...

Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is responsible for collaborating with relevant departments and agencies to direct the safe production and consumption of agricultural products; strict control of food safety; propagation and dissemination of food safety laws, focusing on regulations and technical regulations on production and trading of safe food and agricultural products as well as regulations on administrative sanctions and criminal handling of violations of food safety regulations in accordance with the law. Besides, the department is responsible for organizing food safety supervision in order to timely detect, warn and inspect, access and handle violations of food safety; deploying a plan for specialized inspection, unscheduled inspection of establishments trading in plant protection drugs, veterinary drugs, aquatic feeds, aquaculture environmental treatment products, slaughter establishments, small-scale agricultural and food production, and business establishments showing signs of violation in order to promptly detect, trace origins and thoroughly handle violators...
