Early August 7, provincial People’s Council’s Commission for Socio-Cultural Affairs had a meeting with leaders of sectors, departments, mass organizations and localities in the province about the situation and the results of implementation of policies in favor of children.

The whole province now has 374,000 children aged between 0 and 16 or 18.75% of total population and 163,800 ones under 6 or 8.2% of total population. Among them, there are 3,405 extremely difficult children. During the period of 2016-2017, provincial People’s Committee issued policies for children. Many models, namely “Safe house”, “Safe community”, “Safe school”…, were also implemented across the province. So far, 100% of communes, wards and townships in the province have realized the model of “Safe house”.

Concluding the meeting, Trinh Duc Tai, Head of provincial People’s Council’s Commission for Socio-Cultural Affairs suggested localities to give priority to using their land fund to build welfare works for children, especially pay attention to those with difficult circumstances; mobilize enterprises to join hands to take care of children…The province’s sector of labor, war invalids and social affairs and localities also need to consider support policies for those who are in charge of children work while further disseminating child protection and care. In addition, the province’s functional agencies need to strengthen inspection tours at private kindergartens, aiming to limit child violence…
