An expectation about environmental treatment technology from Japan

Update: 14-09-2022 | 15:16:58

On July 28, at Provincial Exhibition and Convention Center, Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee in collaboration with Kansai Bureu of Economic, Trade and Industry (METI Kansai) of held a seminar on technology transfer and human resource training in environmental industry in Binh Duong province. At the seminar, businesses belonging to METI Kansai Economic Zone’s ecosystem introduced and shared technologies, solutions of environmental treatment and protection for specific economic regions in the province.

The Provincial People's Committee collaborates with Kansai Economic Region (METI Kansai, Japan) to organize a seminar on technology transfer and human resource training for Binh Duong provincial environmental industry.

To introduce new technologies

In the seminar, representatives in this business ecosystem of METI Kansai Economic Zone introduced many technologies, solutions to treat and protect the environment in accordance with the reality of districts, towns and cities of the province. Most of the solutions were developed and constituted based on advanced scientific principles that are capable of handling and protecting the existing industrial environment and the development vision of the province.

Namely, representative of Horiba Seisakusho Company introduced a new generation of environmental monitoring equipment, including water quality monitoring system; coliforms analysis; measure conductivity, electrical power; TOC measuring device; laser scanning equipment detects oil on the surface; automatic monitoring system of chimney emission CEMs. According to the introduction, most of these equipment and systems apply advanced technologies to analysis and return results to data center immediately. This helps the authorities to do well in management and supervision tasks, enterprises also proactively grasp the quality of input and output water or gas to avoid unfortunate environmental incidents.

Coming to this seminar, Kubota Company, Kobelco EcoSolutions Company, Kuraray Trading Company etc. also introduced many solutions applied in socio-economic sectors. These were modern water treatment technology, the use of UF dragon membrane and activated carbon in wastewater treatment, receiving positive feedbacks from functional industries and localities. With 48 existing industrial zones and clusters and is expected to keep increasing sharply from now to 2030, Binh Duong has a great demand for projects implemented to protect and treat industrial and living environment, especially the problem of wastewater, emissions, and solid waste.

With a modern technology chain that have helped many countries and territories solve environmental problems, the environmental treatment technologies of enterprises from the Land of the Rising Sun are expected to help Binh Duong completely solve this difficult problem.

Be ready to accept the transfer

At the end of the seminar on technology transfer and human resource training in the environment industry, the Provincial People's Committee and the Economic, Trade and Industry Bureau of Kansai Economic Zone signed a memorandum of understanding, and both are ready to develop more cooperation programs in the future. From now until the end of 2022, business delegations and administrative branches of the two sides will regularly organize visits and study programs to find out the most suitable plans and solutions for environmental treatment in the province.

Within the cooperation program, METI Kansai is committed to supporting Binh Duong authorities, businesses, and people to access modern and effective environmental treatment lines and technologies. METI Kansai also pledged to actively supervise and promote the process of technology transfer, train human resources to meet demands and criteria to be qualified for installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment system instead of depending on suppliers like some other countries.

In the spirit of promoting environmental remediation activities, Mai Hung Dung, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, asked provincial departments, branches and localities to carefully study and propose suggestions, advise the Provincial People's Committee to soon apply and operate modern technologies, lines specialized in environmental treatment to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of environmental protection in the province. In particular, issues related to technological solutions in urban wastewater treatment, industrial wastewater, control of industrial emission sources, especially treatment facilities with hazardous industrial waste incinerators, technology for industrial waste recycling, incinerating wastes to recover energy, etc., concern the province. Thus, the province is ready to receive the transfer if the partners’ solutions solve our problems and needs well.

Ngo Quang Su, Director of Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said the total volume of industrial solid waste in the province is currently estimated at 4,300 tons/day. In which, non-hazardous industrial solid waste is about 3,200 tons/day; hazardous industrial solid waste 1,100 tons/day. Meanwhile, the total volume of daily-life solid waste generated in the province is currently estimated at about 2,200 tons/day, all of which is collected and transported to the Nam Binh Duong Waste Treatment Complex for treatment and recycling processing with collection and treatment rate reaching 99.4%. The economic development and the continuous increase of population in recent years have posed big environmental problems for the locality, it is expected that solutions from Japan would help the province solve these problems effectively.
