Provincial People’s Committee in collaboration with the Consul General of the Netherlands in HCM city kicked off a “Binh Duong bound for a smart city” seminar with the theme of “Working together to build up a sustainable future” at provincial Convention-Exhibition Center yesterday morning.
Attending the seminar were Tran Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; leaders of Becamex IDC, sectors in the province; Phan Thanh Binh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Director of HCM city National University; Phan Thi My Linh, Deputy Minister of Construction; Pham Dai Duong, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Nienke Trooster, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam; Simon van der Burg, the Consul General of the Netherlands in HCM city together with scientists and many other guests.
“We are part to build up a smart city”
At the seminar, Nienke Trooster, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam said that this event affirmed the fine relationship between Binh Duong and Eindhoven city. She also asserted: “Smart cities are the future and we are part to build up them”.

Whilst, Mary Ann Schreurs, Deputy Mayor of Eindhoven stressed: “We now face great changes in terms of energy, water, education, health, lighting supply, so more efforts are needed. We also need to change operational methods and have a harmonious coordination. In general, all services also aim at residents”.
Participating researchers, enterprises also introduced smart cities and presented the issue of safe connection in the smart world. Vo Quang Hue, General Director of Bosch Co.Ltd. said that the solution of environment is now one of significant issues for Binh Duong. He also expressed his aspiration of becoming a partner of Binh Duong bound for a smart city in the coming time.

Nguyen Van Hung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, CEO of Becamex IDC said that Binh Duong reached a high economic growth speed over the past time, meeting the local requirements for sustainable development in the new period towards a smart city. In the next period, Binh Duong will further perfect the local infrastructure system, research and develop Binh Duong new city towards absorbing human resources at residents’ needs while attracting hi-tech industries and restrict ones that use many laborers…
Addressing the seminar, Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee emphasized that this was a very important event, providing scientific foundations and real arguments, defining the harmonious relation between the State, enterprises and scientists in building up a more sustainable Binh Duong, contributing to successfully realizing major programs set out by the Resolution of the 10th provincial Party Committee. With the above significance, provincial leaders believed that the seminar will bring participating delegates and Binh Duong as well important solutions to promote the “smart city” model based on Eindhoven city’s history and development. It was also a chance for scientists and researchers to exchange and share mutual experience in building up a smart city, creating favorable conditions for Binh Duong to map out preeminent policies in fostering hi-tech industries, bringing locals a more civilized and modern living, thereby contributing to step by step turning the locality into a centrally-controlled city by 2020.
The awards ceremony of the contest programming softwares for smart city development was also organized at the seminar. First prize worth VND50mln was awarded to TDMUG group, including students from Thu Dau Mot University, with a software product on E-Hot Line.
