Binh Duong Power Company guarantees safe and uninterrupted power supply thorough dry season

Update: 26-03-2024 | 11:25:11

The weather is at its peak heat now, water level of hydroelectric reservoirs is low, this is also the period when companies speed up production and business, causing electricity demand to increase, potentially causing electricity shortages. Faced with the above situation, we made an interview with Le Minh Quoc Viet, Director of Binh Duong Power Company (PCBD), about ensuring continuous and safe electricity supply to serve daily-life and production activities in the area.

- How does the electricity industry receive sources to ensure continuous and safe electricity supply, sir?

- PCBD is managing 59 110kV lines with a total length of 437.61km. Currently, 3/59 110kV lines (accounting for 5.08%) are regularly operating at full load and carrying high loads. Loads managed by PCBD are currently receiving power from 27 110/22kV transformer stations (TBA), with a total capacity of 3,280MVA, including 50 transformers (MBAs) with a capacity of 63MVA, 2 MBAs with a capacity of 63MVA. capacity of 40MVA and 2 MBAs with capacity of 25MVA. In addition, PCBD also receives power from two 220/110/22kV stations managed by Power Transmission Company 4, including Binh Hoa 2 MBA 63MVA station and Thuan An 2 MBA 63MVA station. Of these, 27/58 MBAs (accounting for 46.55%) regularly operate at full load and carry high loads.

PCBD invests in many projects to ensure electricity supply for production and daily life activities in the area.

In the first months of 2024, the maximum capacity (Pmax) at PCBD reached 2,492.09MW (March 12, 2024), 13.51MW higher than Pmax in 2023 (2,478.58MW on November 9, 2023), equivalent to an increase of 0.5%. In addition, the ability to level load to reduce load on lines and 110kV substations cannot be implemented due to overloading of the transmission grid. Therefore, load shifting between high load areas such as: Thu Dau Mot City, Tan Uyen City, Ben Cat Town, Bac Tan Uyen District, Phu Giao, Binh Duong Industrial - Service - Urban Complex is extremely difficult. Namely, in case a 110kV transformer in these areas has a problem, it is impossible to transfer the load, requiring a lot of time to restore power.

It is forecast that in dry season months, especially in May and June, due to the impact of the El Nino phenomenon, prolonged heat and drought may cause serious water shortages for hydroelectric reservoirs, affecting affecting electricity supply throughout the country, including Binh Duong.

- Could you please clarify the specific plan for electricity supply in the province now and in the future?

- With the current speed of load development in the province, to meet demand, PCBD has developed plans and options for power supply in the dry season and the whole year of 2024 right from the last months of 2023 with scenarios in which 110kV power grid projects are not put into operation on time. Specifically, PCBD has reviewed and updated the list of key energy customers, with electricity consumption of 1 million kWh/year or more to have an operating scenario to ensure power supply. PCBD reported to Provincial People's Committee to strengthen the direction of the Provincial Electricity Supply Executive Board, to prepare to implement the electricity supply plan in the situation of supply-demand imbalance, the Southern electricity system lacks power source.

PCBD is implementing construction investment projects to increase power supply, and at the same time coordinating with relevant units to speed up the progress of energizing 110kV power grid projects in the area. At the same time, PCBD focuses on information and encourage customers to save electricity and adjust loads.

In addition, PCBD has directed its affiliated electric powers to strengthen inspection and consolidation of the entire power grid, promptly overcome and immediately handle defects; Review areas with increased load, regularly check the load status of feeders and transformer stations in areas where overload is likely to occur to take remedial measures such as increasing capacity, transferring loading, increasing conductor cross-section, upgrading switching equipment. PCBD also directed units to increase the implementation of reactive power compensation to increase the ability to transmit power on the grid; through the telemetry system, check the status of distribution transformers, predict load carrying capacity and make timely treatment plans. In addition, following the direction of Provincial People's Committee, PCBD also accelerated the progress of electrical projects and works to ensure electricity supply to serve production and daily life in the area.

- To use electricity economically and effectively, can you share about the measures taken?

- The sudden increase in monthly electricity bills during the hot season is always a concern for many households. Some effective solutions to save electricity are to use energy-saving devices. Do not leave electrical devices in standby mode; Use motion sensors to turn on/off lights, set timers to turn on/off household electrical appliances...

For manufacturing businesses, saving electricity will help reduce product costs and increase competitiveness. Therefore, many businesses have boldly invested in technology, changed modern machinery and equipment lines, consumed less energy, had annual audits, and had solutions to use energy economically to optimize. costing. In addition, businesses need to rearrange production shifts, avoid using equipment that consumes large amounts of electricity during peak hours, and do not let electrical equipment operate without load; Widely propagate to workers about electricity saving practices and avoid wasteful use of electricity.

The electricity industry has built an electricity bill estimation tool at the website https://uoctinhdiennang.evn. com.vn/. This web-based tool will help people and customers easily calculate and manage the power consumption of devices. The introduction of the electricity estimation tool demonstrates the electricity industry's efforts to continuously improve and bring electricity services to customers more conveniently, openly and transparently.

- Sincerely thank you!
