Binh Duong province confirms position at 2018 WTA Summit

From 10 to 12 Oct 2018, the 2018 World Technopolis Association (WTA) Summit will take place in Binh Duong. This is a special event to Binh Duong to confirm the province’s international status immediately after gaining admission to WTA. To be eligible to be the host, besides preparations in latest days, Binh Duong has concentrated on building the infrastructure that is capable of meeting international event requirements in recent years.

With the Government’s expectation that Binh Duong would become an industrial center, a smart city, a good destination for investors, Binh Duong has proved its role and status through available potential and resources. In order to catch up with the international integration trend, Binh Duong has focused on developing an industrial-service-urban complex with an area of nearly 4,200ha, located in the center of the province, being convenient for transportation, near airports, seaport and other provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau. In this complex, the province saves 2,000ha for developing hi-tech industrial parks, 900ha for high-class services, and 1,000ha for urban and residential areas. The highlight of this complex is Binh Duong New City which has synchronous infrastructure, meeting international standards.

Binh Duong New City was constructed with the size of 1,000ha, defined as the political, economic and cultural center of the province. Therefore, the investment in the Binh Duong New City construction will be carried out for not only a close connection with other localities in the province, but also a convenient connection in terms of technical and economic infrastructure with neighboring provinces and cities in the southern key economic region. In recent years, Binh Duong New City has gradually become a modern city with many remarkable works meeting international standards, such as Convention and Exhibition Center, Sports Center, Eastern International University, Vietnam-Germany University, high-tech industrial parks, social housing projects, works for community activities.

Particularly, in Binh Duong New City complex of architectural works, Provincial Integrated Administrative Center is one of the most modern administrative centers in the whole country; is the cooperation result of provincial government and enterprises to help local people and businesses to fulfill quickly administrative procedures. This center not only meets needs and aspirations of local Party, authorities and people, but also is a critical breakthrough advance to form an e-government when Binh Duong implements Smart City’s project. In addition, the Convention and Exhibition Center is located next to Provincial Administration Center, has a total area of 13,859.4m2, including a main hall of 1,358 seats and small meeting rooms with a capacity of 1,050 seats, divided into small rooms (100 - 300 seats) with airy space, beautiful views, fully equipped for discussions, business meetings, political meetings or contract signings. At the same time, this is a good place to host many indoor and outdoor exhibitions.

With modern, luxurious and diverse design, and professional services, Binh Duong Exhibition and Convention Center is considered as the ideal venue for international conferences, seminars, cultural events, exhibitions, or large-scale entertainment programs, as well as luxurious parties. Development of technological infrastructure

In order to accelerate the implementation of Binh Duong Smart City Project, to build Binh Duong into a smart city, a modern and sustainable urban area, in Aug 2015, Binh Duong province officially joined the WTA. On this occasion, Binh Duong province officially signed an agreement with Daejeon city government (Korea) to co-organize the 11th WTA General Assembly on occasion of the 20th WTA anniversary.

According to experts, smart city building is about developing smart technologies and applications to better serve people. This development must be based on the most important platform, namely information and communications technologies. Thus, with the development of an advanced internet infrastructure, a professional data center is a good foundation for Binh Duong to build a smart city. Accordingly, eData Center of Vietnam Technology and Telecommunication Corporation (VNTT) was established and is increasingly growing, located next to the Administrative Center with the area up to 5,000m2, owns fiber-optic network covering the whole area, helps Binh Duong to perform smart city plan in the future. The eData Center is fully equipped to provide enterprises with ICT services according to TIA-924/Tier 3 international standard, one of four Vietnam's largest datacenters and provides full range of services to customers. VNTT also plans to build a second data center that is five times larger than the current one to serve e-commerce projects.

Binh Duong New City is the ground for a science and technology city, an international cultural and financial center in a green, clean and beautiful environment, is an important highlight in the socio-economic development process in the next years. The establishment and development of Binh Duong New City with modern infrastructure, technology and international standards have helped Binh Duong qualify for international events.
