Update: 18-08-2022 | 15:57:18

Despite their senior ages and weak health, the members of the provincial Resistance War Association of Women are still very active in movements from peer charitable drives to the community as they share the motto of humane love will remain after hardship.

The female resistance fighters have always been the examples to educate today's younger generation about patriotism, national pride, noble human spirit and the will to rise up in life

The comradeship

One of the outstanding organizations in recent times is the Resistance War Association of Women at all levels in the province in collaboration with the Women's Union of the same level in a meeting on the 75th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 to July 27, 2022). Typically, the Resistance War Association of Women of Di An city has collaborated with the Women's Union of Di An city to organize a program of gratitude to generations of heroic martyrs, Vietnamese heroic mothers, and those who have contributed to the revolution without regret of their lives, sacrificing to defend the fatherland. The gratitude program took place in an emotional atmosphere through gratitude performances telling traditional stories about 10 young girls who volunteered to sacrifice themselves at Dong Loc junction and exchanging gratitude with units that did good work of gratitude in the city.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dien, Chairwoman of the Resistance War Association of Women of Di An city, said: “We are very excited to be able to organize the activities as, for us now, we are old, and 40% of the members are seriously ill, so in addition to the material concern, spiritual encouragement makes a lot of sense to motivate the members to continue to live healthy, useful lives, and set examples for their children and grandchildren to follow.”

The Resistance War Association of Women of Di An city currently has 87 members in an organization of female cadres who participated in the resistance war against the US to save the country. After 7 years of establishment, the association has well promoted the role of educating revolutionary traditions for the young generation by taking care of the improvement of the material and spiritual life of its members. Recently, based on the resources, the association has built a fund of nearly VND 800 million.

Ms. Huynh Kim Oanh, Chairwoman of the provincial Resistance War Association of Women, said: "Being able to attend meetings at Resistance War Associations of Women at all levels, we feel the warmth of hearts. The meeting has aroused the tradition of Vietnamese women, empowering today's generation to successfully complete the task in the new stage." Not stopping at meetings, members of the Association are always interested in visiting cases of illness, diseases or hard lives.

Towards the community

Not only does the Association take care of the material and spiritual life of cadres and members, but it also joins hands with the locality to take care of the needy. During the strong outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic in Binh Duong, the provincial Resistance War Association of Women did a good job of mobilizing officials and members to participate in the prevention and control of COVID-19 such as contributing to the Vaccine Fund. Not only did they contribute money, many members also went to the checkpoints and quarantine points to give gifts and medicines. For example, the Association in Di An city gave medicines and vitamins to frontline forces fighting against the epidemic.

In addition, the Associations at all levels have coordinated with local associations and unions to participate in local patriotic emulation movements, notably in social and charity work. According to statistics, every year officers and members of the Association contribute hundreds of millions of VND to local social work, and giving gifts to encourage young people who enlist in the army services.

Ms. Huynh Kim Oanh said that from the beginning of the year, despite being affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, officials and members of the provincial Resistance War Association of Women have worked together to deepen the activities suitable for members. Typically, the association has done well in political and ideological work, in social charity, visit and encourage sick members, the work of gathering materials to prepare for the book "Shining with pearls" (volume 2). It has also organized delegations to visit historical sites. In addition, the Associations in districts, towns and cities also coordinate with localities to carry out local patriotic emulation movements, exemplary grandparents movements of raising children and grandchildren.

In the coming time, the association will continue to focus on member development, complete yearbook writing for localities,  build an association fund to support members with difficulties in getting loans, and actively participate in charity to support disadvantaged people in the area.
