A warm Tet holiday

In the evening of Jan. 25, 970 migrant workers of Binh Duong Apparel Company will return their homes for Tet on free trips funded by the company. They will enjoy an 8-day Tet holiday. The long holiday helps them enjoy more time for family. Can Thi Thiet said “My husband’s homeland is in the central province of Quang Binh while my hometown is in Thanh Hoa province. Despite a long distance, we and family members annually enjoy Tet holiday together. Over the formative years, we no longer suffered difficulties in buying bus tickets for Tet, we have enjoyed free trips for Tet. Especially, the company allows us to enjoy a long holiday, helping us spend more time for our family”. She revealed that she and her husband this year enjoy a over VND20mil Tet bonus. The amount of Tet bonus helps her family enjoy a happy Tet holiday.

Hoang Thi San expressed her joy when enjoying a beauty contest for her colleague sisters at the Binh Duong Apparel Company, aside from Tet bonus, free bus tickets and Tet gifts.

Taking care of young workers’ life

Vo Cong Tru, secretary of Binh Duong Apparel Company’s Youth Union said that the company is home to more than 2,500 cadres and employees, over 70% of whom are youths and unionists and most of them are migrant laborers. Therefore, the company youth union annually holds culture and art and sport activities to take care of laborers’ spiritual life. The significant programs include “Protrade beauty”, “Protrade singing festival”, sport festival, early-year excursions and many more.

To take care of laborers’ life, the company built a free tenement for young workers. On every the year-end, the company holds Tet festivals for disadvantaged workers. In the past year, the company granted Tet gifts to 136 needy workers, each VND200,000. In addition, the company held an excursion at Dai Nam tourism site for migrant laborers who stayed for Tet.

Additionally, to help workers buy the company’s products with preferential price, the company in cooperation with Binh Duong Support Center for Young Workers held a market-day at Thuan An town to sell T-shirts branded Unicol trademark with the preferential price of VND250,000 per unit instead of VND450,000 per unit. The market-day aimed at marketing the company’s products and helping young workers approach the high quality products with preferential price.

Nguyen Hong Anh, personnel director cum trade union vice chairman of the company said that in this year the cost of holding free trips home for Tet is at about VND1.5bil whilst Tet bonuses and excursions for laborers are at hundreds of millions of VND. These activities have been maintained and renovated annually in conformity with annual situation. The company always creates the best working environment for laborers in a bid to bring a warm Tet holiday for them.
