Cooperation helps local agriculture reach sustainable development

Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DoARD) has just signed a cooperation agreement with HCM city Open University on modern agricultural development support. The agreement will last within 3 years with crucial contents, contributing to helping the local agriculture obtain sustainable development.

Paying attention to agricultural development

Although being a locality with vigorous development in industrial production, Binh Duong has still paid attention to agricultural production with a lot of action programs and strategies absorbing investment in this field.

Pham Van Bong, Deputy Director of provincial DoARD said that socialization of agriculture and rural development is a deed full of significance. Over the past years, agricultural development in Binh Duong mainly depended on the efforts by farmers, so the cooperation agreement with HCM city Open University will contribute to assisting the local agriculture to keep up with countries with strong development agriculture in the region and around the world.

Under the cooperation agreement, the province’s cultivation and animal husbandry will enjoy opportunities for stronger evolution when the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP) that Vietnam joined to officially take effect. For animal husbandry-veterinary, HCM city Open University will provide the province with programs on diagnosis and test.

The school will also help the province train human resources in operating GC and LC machines to analyze pesticide residue in agricultural products under the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 system while guiding how to apply high technologies in agricultural production…

Towards modern agriculture

According to Bui Quang Chanh, Head of the Division of Application of Hi-tech Agriculture under provincial DoARD, the goal of the cooperation agreement is to help the province have additional farmsteads on cultivation and animal husbandry with VietGap standards. Giving training to cadres of provincial DoARD will be also promoted with contents in line with the local farmers’ real demand for production. 

In addition, the two sides will concentrate on training students in the agricultural field. All the above things aim to raise the quality of the school’s human resources and help the province’s agriculture achieve sustainable development, Mr.Chanh added.

To leaders of provincial DoARD, the province’s agricultural development is oriented with hi-tech and urban models. And the province now pays attention to raising farmers’ stable incomes, developing agriculture into a “green belt” for the local development.
