Di An town Labor Confederation acts for worker’s benefits

In recent time, Di An town Labor Confederation has attached great importance to the studying, following Uncle Ho with renewed contents and diverse activities to enhance the role and responsibility of trade unions in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of workers.

Timely capturing thoughts and aspirations of workers

Nguyen Thi Hong Tham and her family living in Noi Hoa 1 quarter, Binh An ward, Di An town said thankfully, from thanks to the new house, her family was no longer worried in rainy season as before. All family members are happy, try their best to work and improve their lives. Ms. Tham is a union member of Chau Hoa Viet Company’s Trade Union. Knowing her family’s difficult situation, the town Labor Confederation encouraged Saigon International Company and Chen Yung Memorial Foundation to support VND 40 million to repair a small house of 60m2 to help Ms. Tham and family have stable home, thereby motivating trade union members to work and escape poverty. This was the achievement of trade unions in caring for, strengthened workers’ trust in trade unions.

Ninh Xuan Hien, Chairman of Di An town Labor Confederation, said: "In order to grasp thoughts and aspirations, protect legitimate interests of workers in the area, Di An town Labor Confederation directed grassroots unions to implement democracy regimes. Especially, the town Labor ConConfederation organized dialogues and talks between provincial and local leaders and trade unions to listen to opinions about housing, salary and income of workers... In addition, the town Labor Confederation organizes regular meetings with employees at workplaces to grasp their thoughts, living conditions, and work situation; At the same time, to strengthen a contingent of trade union officials, who are close to the grassroots level, to firmly grasp the situation and promptly advise upper levels to satisfactorily solving urging matters of the labor force; thereby ensuring regimes and policies for employees in accordance with laws and regulations; building a harmonious, stable, and progressive relationship in agencies and units.

Pham Van Bay, Vice Chairman of Di An town People's Committee, said: "Di An is an area where there are many laborers from other provinces work and live here. Therefore, there are many concerns, especially taking care of workers, such as building schools for worker’s children. In the school year 2018-2019, the number of students continued to increase and would increase more next year. We knew this situation and instructed Education and Training Office to create the best conditions for workers’ children to go to school”.

Always be side by side with workers

To implement the studying and following, Di An town Labor Confederation organized thoroughly, seriously the study of Directive 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on enhancing studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, ethics , lifestyle. Every year, 100% Party cadres and members study special subjects, and then set up plans, make commitments to learning and following Uncle Ho’s example with many concrete and practical contents.

Implementing the project "Each grassroots trade union - One union member’s benefit", the town Labor Confederation directed and organized many practical activities for workers, such as the successful organization of "Tet festival" with many meaningful activities receiving the support of local Party, government, enterprises, and employees, thereby the role of trade unions was appreciated. The Labor Confederation presented 1,000 gifts worth VND500 million to workers in difficult circumstance; 143 train and bus tickets to workers with total cost of VND158 million; 35 gifts worth VND 12.7 million to workers meeting with occupational accidents; launched Workers' month, Action month for occupational safety and health attracted participation of over 1,500 union members; presented 100 gifts to disadvantaged workers and 37 gifts to workers with occupational accidents, total value of VND68.5 million…

Ninh Xuan Hien said, Di An town had 380 grassroots trade union with 28,386 members. In the coming time, the Labor Confederation will continue to follow the Party leadership, organize the study and thoroughly understand the contents of the Directive 05-CT/TW for each staff cadres and workers to be more aware of the importance of the studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, lifestyle in action programs of the trade union.

"Through studying and following Uncle Ho, each cadres, workers, agency, unit has the responsibility to self-examination, self-repair, self-striving; particularly, the importance of exemplary role of heads of each agency, unit in studying and following Uncle Ho; the exemplary role of the heads is a key step to creating good effects, reinforce trust of workers. The results of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and lifestyle are also considered as an important criterion in assessing and rewarding annual emulation movements to Party organizations, mass organizations, agencies, and individuals", said Mr. Hien.
