The city’s Women’s Union also mobilized and supported women to build up well-off, advanced, happy and civilized families; organized activities in response to the International Day of Happiness (March 20), Vietnam Family Day (June 28); disseminated the Project 404, the Law on Gender Equality; organized talk shows on family, reproductive health… Especially, the city’s Women’s union coordinated with relevant units to organize talk shows on reproductive healthcare, cancer prevention…for women; was proactive to work with the city’s Police Agency to hold forums on crime prevention…
Helping women escape from poverty
One of practical activities done by Di An city’s Women’s Union over the past time was to mobilize and support women in economic development and poverty reduction. Particularly, the local Women’s Union mobilized businesswomen and female small traders to select more than 100 products for trade fairs, startup festivals; guided 42 members to present their startup ideas; organized talk shows on developing collective economic models, establishing cooperative groups, individual business households…The local Women’s Union and its branches propagandized and mobilized organizations, individuals to set up 1 cooperative and 3 cooperative groups, helping women develop production models, rising up out of poverty and securing a better life.
The city’s Women’s Union also teamed up with the city’s Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, vocational training schools to give vocational training for 1,549 members; linked with some enterprises to introduce jobs to members. The Women’s Union branches of Binh An, Binh Thang and An Binh wards well maintained clubs “women helping each other in economic development”. Accordingly, their garment groups generated jobs for 1,010 women with the monthly income of VND2million-VND6.5million per person. The city’s Women’s Union and its branches also offered help to 78 needy cases with the monthly subsidy of VND1million-VND2milion per case.
As of now, the city’s Women’s Union joined hands with relevant units to help 9,459 women get more than VND132billion in loan; provided poor women with non-interest loans under the “Saving day for poor women” program with VND658.5million; implemented saving programs via saving and loan groups with more than VND23billion…
With its effective operation, the city’s Women’s Union has become a fulcrum of women, helping them rise up and build up well-off and happy families. It is known that the city’s Women’s Union now has a total of 28,772 members. The city’s Women’s Union and its branches have so far gathered more than 6,000 women for sub-unions for female workers at lodging facilities, groups and clubs on food safety-hygiene, environmental protection, 5No-s and 3 Clean-s…
