The year 2024 is the second year that Thu Dau Mot City implements the "Trash-free city" plan. To meet the set requirements, the city continues to develop the results achieved in the first year of implementation, that is, continue to replicate and spread good models and practices of localities in the area.

Spread good models

Nguyen Duy, Head of Natural Resources and Environment Office of Thu Dau Mot City, said that in 2023, the "Trash-Free City" plan will be done with high determination, including the political system of Thu Dau Mot City and its 14 wards have continuously introduced effective models and initiatives. In particular, these models are increasingly pervasive in the local community, gradually forming a civilized urban lifestyle and a clean and beautiful environment.

An example is Phu My ward with "Trash-free streets" and "Environmentally friendly residential cluster". Tuong Binh Hiep ward with "No-garbage neighborhood" in Quarter 4, the "No-garbage streets" at Nguyen Chi Thanh, Ho Van Cong, Phan Dang Luu, Le Chi Dan streets. Chanh Nghia ward with "Road without trash", "Bell ringing sound to bring trash to truck" and "Environmentally friendly residential cluster". Hiep An ward with "A clean street and alley every week", "Environmentally-friendly residential cluster". In the neighborhoods, Zalo groups were also established to announce the correct time to take out the trash. Local communities may contribute ideas and remind specific cases to clean up the environment.

Similarly in Hoa Phu ward, models of "Trash-free neighborhood - Garbage-free streets and alleys", "Environmentally friendly residential cluster" are increasingly supported by many people. In Phu Loi ward, the "trash-free residential area" activity has also been spread in Phuc Dat residential area, "Civilized street", actively called on people to participate in the "Bringing garbage to the truck" and "Environmentally-friendly residential cluster" in 9 neighborhoods. Phu Hoa Ward also has a model of "3-in-1 alley" which is a friendly alley - security cameras and no waste. Phu Tan Ward with "Environmentally friendly residential cluster" on N5 street, quarter 3.

In Phu Cuong ward, the model "Environmentally friendly alley" has also related to the lives and activities of people. The residential community in Dinh Hoa ward has also actively responded to models of "Trash-free alleys", "For Dinh Hoa ward without trash", "Urban civilized route", "Environmentally friendly residential cluster” in quarters 1, 5, 6. Or in Hiep Thanh ward, there is a model of "Environmentally friendly residential cluster" at group 37, Nguyen Van Tiet street and group 115, Nguyen Binh street; Phu Tho ward with the model of "Environmentally friendly residential cluster"...

To intensify propagation

Nguyen Duy, Head of Natural Resources and Environment Office of Thu Dau Mot City said that in 2024 the city will continue its plan to build a "Civilized - Clean - Beautiful" city to achieve the set targets in period 2023-2025; enhance propagation to raise awareness and action of officials, civil servants, public employees, workers and people about implementing a civilized lifestyle and protecting the environment. Up to now, after implementing the "Trash-Free City" plan, it has created consensus among the entire political system from city to ward and people from all walks of life in the area. The achieved results must be maintained and improved during implementation.

The city strives to ensure that main roads in the area are clean and that there is no longer any waste disposal at the wrong time or place. In addition, there are no spontaneous garbage collection points on all roads, alleys, canals, gardens, parks, and vacant lots in the area. Ensure that people participating in crowded outdoor events and activities in the city properly dispose of waste according to regulations; At the same time, well implement the movements "Anti-plastic waste", "Say no to single-use plastic products". Besides, it is necessary to well carry out tasks and goals on classifying domestic solid waste at source according to the plan of Thu Dau Mot City People's Committee.

Nguyen Duy added that a new point in building and promulgating the 2024 implementation plan of "Zero-Trash City" in the area is not using single-use plastic products in events, meetings and daily activities, and are included in management regulations and neighborhood conventions. From there, it requires units, organizations, associations, and unions to jointly implement it.

In addition, the city reviewed and re-issued regulations on the time and location of household waste disposal on all roads, alleys, and residential area roads in accordance with actual conditions, ensure garbage collection at least once a day; strengthen propaganda work and mobilize people to well implement the "trash-free city" plan, focusing on raising people's awareness about disposing of trash at the prescribed time and place; Implement minimizing plastic waste and regulations on classifying household solid waste at source. For propaganda and information activities, limit the use of banners, leaflets, posters, and prioritize the use of mass media, electronic devices, and social networking sites to minimize the generated plastic waste.

Thu Dau Mot City continues to call on people to contribute initiatives, ideas, forms of propagation, and good practices to develop the effectiveness of the "Trash-free city" plan, "Anti-plastic waste" movement.
